    Nerd Initiative - Yancy Arce

Rick Remender manages to add dimensions to the character of Milton Shaw. This story isnt only about war anymore. Now, its about the people, the characters involved in it. Their lives, their hopes, their dreams and how they were halted by this conflict. Remender is peeling back the layers on this story. Effortlessly might I add. Read Full Review

    Comical Opinions - Gabriel Hernandez

ESCAPE #2 doesn't just march through the war zone. It belly-crawls, fists bloodied, eyes wide, and teeth set. This is a comic that knows exactly what it wants to be: angry, tragic, and unflinchingly honest. The only thing brighter than the muzzle flashes is the hope that maybe, just maybe, someone will remember what Milton tried to do before the lights go out. Read Full Review

    Major Spoilers - Jonathan Cadotte

    Sep 27, 2025

Escape #2 doesn't lose any steam from its first issue, even though the pace dramatically slows down. The quieter moments and central relationship come off as genuine, relatable, and does a lot to add depth to Milton as he gears up for his treacherous mission. Read Full Review

I enjoyed this issue even more than the first one. Fleshing out the protagonist by dedicating most of this issue to a flashback is a bold but necessary move. The reader should be even more invested in Milton's fate now. I'm 100% convinced that Escape is going to be an exciting and masterfully executed series, with all the heartbreaking and satisfying payoff you can imagine.

I don't give out 10s often, but this is a perfect comic. Art is great and the story makes you feel.

This continued and built upon the greatness of the first issue by flashing back to Milton's past and getting the reader emotionally attached and invested in his character before moving any further in the current story. Really enjoyed how his character was handled throughout this, as he became more grounded as he grew older.
