Mark and his good buddy, William go on a trip to Upstate University to see if they want to attend college there next year. All seems to be going well, they spend the day touring dorms, meeting faculty and checking out all the hot college chicks. The only problem is something has gone wrong at Upstate... something terribly wrong. Luckily for them the world's coolest new superhero, Invincible, is on hand to save their bacon. Expanding further on Mark's world and showing how his life transitions the same as any other teenager is a simple and easily relatable form of writing. William is a fun addition and fleshes out Mark as you learn more about a person by who they surround themselves with. William is likable and I certainly understand his wanting to be called by his given name.
This issue still isn't quite on the level of some of the other stories but I enjoyed it. There is some good dialogue between Mark and his friend William. We get a good set up for a character that could be the first significant villain of this series and there is some more humor injected in there too.
I watched the show what... two years ago? So my memories about it are kinda vague, but so far the original feels pretty close, many scenes were taken from the comic almost entirely. So I read it being almost 100% certain I know what happens next. Maybe it won't! But it starts to hit the fan already.
And by the way, first blood! I don't remember if the show was gory from the very beginning or not, but I like that Kirkman doesn't use explicit content in the most graphic way possible every time he can. You know, that's the case with most of the "adult" comics - they just can't afford any rest from being so adult. And this one didn't even begin to be like that. This comic is right now silly and naive, just like it should be since the more
