I'll admit, I'm a sucker for stories that creatively blend real-world historical elements with fantasy. Magic and mystery are secretly a part of our history in Lost Fantasy, and the world-building feels incredibly unique. Its story and various design elements include undertones reminiscent of Final Fantasy and Legend of Zelda (a winning combination), and the cliffhanger ending will leave you clamoring for more. The character designs and settings feel fantastic yet grounded, and the engaging visualization of magic in the book will surely grab your attention. As dull as aspects of the story might seem, theres a pretty jarring narrative slam at issues end. The impact of that last moment DOES suggest that the narrative could be going in an interesting direction moving forward, but its still early-on and a lot could happen. Pires and company will likely give a much better idea of the overall run of the series by the end of the second issue. The quality of the series is still a bit of a mystery as of the end of the first issue. Read Full Review

Lost Fantasy #1 delivers a lot of potential. Narratively speaking, the world, characters, and plot are not exceptionally compelling on their own. And indeed, if not for the shocking events on the final pages, there probably wouldnt be enough in the story to push an on the fence reader to come back for a second issue. The art, on the other hand, is considerably more enticing. The net result is that Lost Fantasy #1s potential makes the first issue worth a look for fans of the genre. Read Full Review
