As bad a movie as it was, Tod Brownings Dracula is starkly iconic and a landmark horror film. Theres something kind of cool about a big two-page title spread that reads Universal Pictures and Skybound Present...Dracula. Martin Simmonds's artwork is incredible!
You buy this book for the art. You buy this for Simmonds. James is just fine here. Not bad, but its not the main drawn. I don't think I have ever seen Renfield portrayed in this way and it is amazing. The art is nothing short of amazing. You can almost tell the story without words. The atmosphere is truly chilling and dire.
The plot was average. The real selling point is the art. Simmonds just makes this book.
