This is another example of why Amazing Spider-Man was my pick for 'Best Ongoing Series' for 2011. It delivers great things to long-time readers, but is accessible to new readers and won't make them feel like they're left out. Dan Slott is clearly putting in this extra work to make this title complex, yes accessible, with every issue. Of course, it doesn't hurt to get art from one of the best in the business in Humberto Ramos. When he (and his team) are handling the art, it's almost hard to have a crappy issue. Read Full Review

In every time travel story, no matter how well done, there is going to be some factor of cheesiness, in my mind at least. This holds true even with this well put together two-part story. I wouldn't look for these two issues to have any lasting effects in the coming issues, but it was an enjoyable read nonetheless. Humberto Ramos fares a little better this time around with an increased character-centric focus, resulting in fewer cluttered action panels. His style remains as angular and exaggerated as ever, but his bizarre use of the human body does have its certain ability to help Slott's more emotional scenes retain their resonance visually. Still, he doesn't stop Bad Tuesday and with no options left, he meets M.J. for a bite to eat until something in the conversation brings about a revelation and Peter arrives at the Horizon labs just in time to make Bad Tuesday a thing of the past. The script was convoluted but I still enjoyed it. I don't know if that's a good thing or if it makes me weird but at least the art maintained its vibrant nature that has been a staple of this current run. Read Full Review

Ultimately, the structure of this story works great, and there's nothing wrong with Slott and Ramos's execution " new readers are still totally going to dig it " but this conclusion felt a little less than fresh for this longtime reader. Read Full Review

Eh, this was a pretty good story. I've always enjoyed time travel, alternate dimensions and the like, so this was a nice little two-part story taking Spidey away from his normal, “Beating up super-villains” deal. Normally pulling the stunt they did with the watch meaning A.M. instead of P.M. would've annoyed me, but I can actually see Spider-Man making that mistake so I wasn't too annoyed by it. The idea that Spidey pretty much ran himself ragged when all he needed to do was close the doorway did annoy me, it seemed like everything was pointless up until that, I don't mind a good story but that seemed like a kick in the head. I do like that they seem to slowly lead back to making Mary Jane a bigger part of the Spider-Man storylines again, she's a fun character when written right and I'd be lying if I said I didn't mark out every time she says "Go get em' Tiger!" As for this issue it just fell flat, the 12 hour reveal and the Peter > Spidey thing kinda took some of the life out of the issue for me, and even the Back to the Future II reference couldn't save it. Humberto Ramos is still in top form here. I know many find Ramos’s art off putting but for me it’s exactly how comics should be, slightly over the top, a little bigger than life and one hundred percent fun. Even with the so-so storyline, Ramos manages to make the issue fun. If anything, Amazing Spider-Man #679 got me excited for the start of Ends Of The Earth storyline and the return of the Dan Slott we all know and love. Read Full Review
