While, I've found that the previous Scarlet Spider books had their ups and downs, bring the clones together for this fight was worth it. This was the first issue of the series that I really liked from beginning to end. I have to say that if it wasn't for the creepy mask, I'd almost prefer Ben's new costume, but there is something wonderfully 90s about his classic outfit. Read Full Review
Ben Reilly: The Scarlet Spider #5 delivers a fun, action-packed clash of the Spiders with one more round of killer art from Mark Bagley. Unfortunately, some of the characters, specifically its supporting characters, are simply too underwritten to care much about. Read Full Review

As one might expect, Reilly and Kain are evenly matched, both getting the temporary upper-hand while neither being able to put away the other. Is the Marvel Universe large enough for two Scarlet Spiders? Or will Kaine attempt to make good on his threat again before this series comes to a close? Worth a look. Read Full Review
This simply isn't one of the better efforts by either David or Bagley. Read Full Review
IGN - Blair Marnell Jul 27, 2017 FULL review encapsulates this chapter perfectly. Especially the "And yet Ben Reilly Scarlet Spider is such an aggressively average comic that it feels inconsequential" part. However, I clearly liked this effort more and rated it accordingly. The whole scene with the gun and the last page sibling reveal were the praiseworthy parts.
A knockdown Kaine/Reilly fight pushes this book higher than it's ever been. Turning the show over to Mark Bagley and saying, "Spider-fight. Vegas. Use your imagination," turns out to be solid gold scripting, and the results are beautiful. There's just enough dialogue and plot development happening along with the pretty pictures to satisfy. Even Cassandra Mercury's side-plot is fighty and interesting this month.
