• The Black Cat finally takes on Odessa Drake and the Thieves Guild of New York!
• If Felicia has any chance of getting back her kidnapped mentor, The Black Fox, she's going to have to take on an army of ninjas and a cabal
of wizards. No sweat, right?

MacKay and Foreman launch themselves into the second half of Black Cats first year with the new series. Its been an enjoyable journey, but this transitional issue feels like its interrupting the energy that the creative team has been building up to this point. Its been interesting so far. MacKay and Foreman are going to be opening Felicia into a different world within the coming issues. This is rather a strange entry into it. Read Full Review
If you've wanted to know more about Odessa Drake and how she came to be who she is, this is a great issue to purchase. If you just want lots of Black Cat action… this may not be quite to your taste… she's there and she does kick butt… but she's really ancillary to the main story. Read Full Review
BLACK CAT #7 complements what has been an enjoyable series. Even though Felicia wasnt heavily involved in this chapter, Jed MacKay keeps interest up by giving background info into the increasingly complex villain, Odessa Drake, and the Thieves Guild itself. Black Fox having Odessas number was the highlight to a well written issue, but Travel Foremans art holds it back overall. Read Full Review
There are some wonky flashbacks throughout this issue and they deter a bit from the action and pacing of the overall story. Read Full Review
I liked the issue. I'm really surprised they're bringing back Black Cat's bisexuality, as it has never been a huge part of her character and is often forgotten.
The Black Cat rescues her mentor after he's delivered an all-revealing diatribe on Odessa Drake and the source of her antagonism to Felicia. It's good character work, but it's delivered in a highly expository way that forces the reader to realize this character sketch of Odessa was the entire point of the kidnapping twist. Combine the artifice with some underwhelming art and you have an issue that's above average for comics as a whole but well below this volume's established standard.
Poor Odessa, unrequited love is hard.
A weak issue.
