Unzueta delivers some great art throughout the issue. There are some great action moments to be found, but the characters are visually stunning. Read Full Review
Veronica Eden has a long way to go before she can be considered a viable threat, and she is already on the verge of being overshadowed by the villain teased for the next issue. Read Full Review
Captain America / Iron Man #2 has great art with fun, kinetic action and a few nice exchanges between Cap and Iron Man. That said, the overall plot is a jumbled mess and the character of Veronica Eden quickly turned from intriguing in issue #1 to nerve-grating levels of irritating in issue #2. What a disappointment for such a promising start. Read Full Review
I really enjoyed this, and the certainty that this issue's breezy tone will drive some other readers up the wall just added to my enjoyment. Derek Landy's jam seems to be "superhero sitcom driven by slightly goofy characters," and if you're open to that, he does it very well.
I liked the art style, too. I think it's colored a little too dark, though. These visuals cry out for bright colors.
I often say that a series will read better in trades, but here I think the reverse is true. A month between issues is a perfect breathing spell, keeping the comedy fresh. If I read the whole thing straight through, I bet the tone would get cloying.
Really like the voices for Tony and Cap, especially for Cap, much better than what Cantwell or Coates did with him recently. I could do with less Veronica Eden, who I still have a hard time caring about. And yes, enough with the self-hate from Tony, if only Cantwell would get the message. I really liked how Cap got super mad when he saw the Hydra Supreme suit (yet another shitty thing Coates did, killing "Captain Hydra" for nothing). I'm excited for what comes next, I really hope this book maintains this level of quality, these characters deserve better than what Marvel does with them these days.
I know i'm late to the party and at that a party, for which not that many people are hyped for or attend even, but a party that like, now that i am here. Call me basic, but civil war is most definitely one of my favorite comics stories. And you know Civil War is complex story, so seeing after so much time Cap and Iron man talking about their motivations, during that time in a way, that's calm and understanding to the other's position, without throwing fist at each other gives me so much joy. To this day, i think that both sides had some nice arguments and for sure it's nice to see, that both of them understand. You can also feel, the disappointment and rhe regret that Tony feels about the whole thing, especially the initiative, not working omore
This is a fun series with some good character moments.
