Deadpool might be an Avenger now, but he's also got his own private team of mercenaries...the legally-cleared-to-be-called MERCS FOR MONEY! Got a problem you can't solve on your own and a pile of money you'd like to be rid of? Just call Deadpool, Stingray, Massacre, Solo, Foolkiller, Terror and Slapstick and watch as that problem is shot, stabbed, eviscerated, pulverized and generally made bloody!

Deadpool & The Mercs for Money #1 is a charismatic and eye-catching, fun-filled romp that should have Deadpool fans clamoring. If you weren't sold on the Mercs for Money over in the main Deadpool title, give this issue a chance and see if it can't win you over like it did me. Read Full Review

This is a really cool issue. Despite all the Deadpool one-shots coming out, this is to be published as a monthly series. I’m pretty stoked to see just how much money some people are willing to spend on this special case. That “junked-up robot” is a familiar face, and I can’t wait to see what you all think when you read this issue! For any Deadpool fan, this is a must-read. Read Full Review

It's a bit of shame that with the success of his recent movie, this might be the first comic new fans pick up. It's not exactly that the book is bad, but it's so different from what people are being sold on that I don't think it'll click like it should. If you're looking for the violence and action, this is your book, but don't hold your breath for the cleverness we've come to expect. Read Full Review

Comic Book Resources - Matt Little Feb 5, 2016

Deadpool's movie is out this month and Ryan Reynolds is looking to make the character more visible than ever, so an increase in the character's appearances is expected. The nice thing about comic books, though, is that you can tell several different stories with one character simultaneously in order to find out what works best. Marvel is leaning into the idea of "Deadpool as Bugs Bunny" with this series, which kicks off with a fun story that won't have a greater impact on the publisher's bigger shared universe storytelling -- but it does remind you that, yes, Stingray was once an Avenger. No one was likely clamoring for more of Deadpool's motley crew, but Bunn and Espin put them to good use in this first installment. Espin's clean character work and expressive lines go well with Bunn's easy moving script, the two combining for an enjoyable read that has promise for greater things. It's a familiar read, but not a bad one. Read Full Review

    Comicsverse - Dennis Mui Feb 5, 2016

Overall, this was an interesting first issue. We get a good set up for a story about mercenaries. Of course they want money, so having something valuable in their possession is a smart road to take. I normally like Deadpool on his own, but his new team could add a fun dimension, plus a whole lot more insanity, as the story progresses. Read Full Review

If you're a fan of Deadpool's current direction, “Deadpool & The Mercs For Money” is a great supplement to the side characters who aren't getting enough love in the main title. And even if you haven't read Deadpool, the concept of Deadpool running his own team is already pretty palatable. Read Full Review

This isn't a book that pushes Deadpool to the extreme or really digs deep into what makes him so popular. This is all kind of by-the-numbers. Read Full Review

With Deadpool hitting theaters next week, it should come as no surprise that I would be talking about the Merc With a Mouth here. I have been a fan of Deadpool for a while, but only really an avid Deadpool reader (by this I mean picking up the book monthly, not just trades) since the All-New Marvel Now reboot with Brian Posehn and Gerry Duggan. I love the tie-ins that have come from Deadpool since then- Deadpool vs Marvel Universe, vs Carnage, vs Deadpool, Deadpool Killogy, Night of the Living Deadpool, Spider-Man/Deadpool and now Mercs for Money. This book spins out of the main story arc where Deadpool forms his own super-team of mercenaries, who try to be the Heroes for Hire, but are slapped with a lawsuit and forced to change their name- more

Some slightly funny moments, but nothing laugh-out-loud funny or clever. If you have an affection for this team, you will likely dig this, otherwise it's just another mediocre Deadpool comic in the current sea of Deadpool and I'd recommend that you pass.
