Genis-Vell: Captain Marvel #2 suddenly takes a left turn in the lead character's quest to get his memories back for a mission to save Death from the Kree. I dont get why the low scores. I'm not the most knowledgeable in captain marvel lore but i have found this series until this point very interesting and entertaining.
This comic just serves as a reminder of how missed Genis has been from comics for nearly 20 years. He is a fantastic character, especially when written by Peter David who wrote his last solo series.
It's good 2nd issue but the time/place/memory hopping around is a bit much to keep track of. It makes sense but I had to think twice about the sequence of events. Still I like how Peter David writes and it doesn't hurt that Juanan Ramirez is doing some fine art too.
Some deft continuity nods and dangling-but-clearly-important plot threads elevate an adequate but not particularly remarkable space adventure. It's written and drawn decently; what makes it good is the strong sense that the author has a cool big-picture plan for future installments.
