• The person behind all of Howard's troubles is revealed! Who could it be? Is it Spider-Man? Wolverine? Thor? Ms. Marvel? Am I just mentioning these characters on the off chance that some retailers will just skim the catalogue looking for character names and will accidentally order this?

    The GCRN - Daniel Clark

Zdarsky is sneaky with his zany humor.Somehow through all the crazy plot lines and out of this world characters he gets you to really care about the character of Howard the Duck. You forget the character you are reacted to is a talking Duck. That is hammered home in the final moments of this storyWith one issue remaining one wonders what will be Howard's fate. No matter what the ending I hope a bigger audience finds this book once it this trades. Read Full Review

If you like meta comics, try this. I loved the last issue I read, I really liked this one and it's very self-aware, not just in a Deadpool style, but in that all Howard T Duck comics follow in the shadow of Gerber and it feels nervous of this. I say knickers to that, get over the nerves and do a comic that makes the original proud, this almost does that.4.4/5 Read Full Review

With only one issue left to go, Howard's swan (duck?) song shows no signs of slowing down. If anything, it's ramping up, as self-aware alien manipulators Chip and Joe - sorry, Chipp and Jho - continue to throw everything they can at their unflappable hero. Read Full Review

That Joe Quinones sure can draw, huh? Skip this narrative abortion of a comic book. Read Full Review

It seems that the less popular a character is, the more creative freedom Marvel is willing to grant creators, and this issue gives Zdarsky and Quinones free reign to poke fun at their fellow creators but go as far as to explain why trouble seems to follow Howard. It turns out to be a very fun and original way to pay tribute to the original Howard comics while providing commentary and incite into the creative process. Some readers seem to think this comic is masturbatory, revealing that the running joke completely flew over their heads. At this point I'm more embarrassed for those readers than anything; not only do they miss the joke, but they completely disregard the theme of the issue. This is why we can't have nice things!

I'm onboard with the shenanigans by Zdarsky and Quinones. Quinones has gone from delivering 110% on art for a very long time to a mix of great stuff with rushed pages but nothing that bad. This book is stupid funny and I like it.

This issue pats itself in the back so much about how witty it is that it's basically masturbatory.
