You Don't Read Comics - Russ Bickerstaff

John Romita Senior based her appearance on that of Hollywood star Ann Margret. She’s evolved a lot ove the years through numerous different interpretations across a few different formats. She remains an enduring figure who just hasn’t quite gotten the right exposure necessary to really catapult her into her own title successfully. Hopefully Allen and Noto are able to find that illusive formula that’s going to fully allow her to meet her potential on the comic book page. She’s been quite a survivor over the years. Given the right dynamic, she could really shine. Read Full Review

This was a really great trip down memory lane. It’s a great quick retrospective of MJ, and how, love it or hate it, she is intrinsically tied to Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Yet, the authors and artists still show us that MJ is her own person with her own dreams, hopes, and fears. Read Full Review

Mary Jane: Face It, Tiger is a fitting celebration of one of Marvel's most enduring characters. While the final story overlaps slightly in setting and villain, the anthology succeeds by proving that Mary Jane has always been far more than Spider-Man's supporting cast. Read Full Review

Sadly, this story is a bit of a rerun of the Nocenti/Yerofieieva one, but Phil Noto’s art is always solid and I need MJ’s Venom bag. Read Full Review

Here’s to another sixty years of Mary Jane Watson! She’s always been Spider-Man’s best supporting character, and I look forward to seeing her headline her own adventures even more later this year! Read Full Review

Super Hero Hype - Matt Morrison

There’s a further irony in Mary Jane: Face It Tiger. In trying to celebrate the past, Marvel has only exposed how the current Spider-Man comics lack the heart of bygone days. And yet, no matter how long Marvel Editorial tries to keep Peter and MJ apart, “the world will always welcome lovers… as time goes by.” Read Full Review
