The art by Robert Gill continues to be a bit stylized, but it's growing on me. I really like the way he plots action scenes and several characters look gritty and excellent, I'm still not totally onboard with the way he draws Starlord but hardly anything to drop the book over. Read Full Review
While it's pretty par for the course with the other "Old Man" titles, this delightfully bizarre book will leave you cheering with a certain splash page towards the end. Read Full Review
Overall, Old Man Quill #3 is a solid effort that just doesn't take a lot of chances with the ideas its presenting. The adventures of the Guardians fighting the Universal Church of Truth should be a more cosmic centered adventure, and limiting the setting to Earth at the moment is holding the series back creatively a bit. Despite these complaints I still get enough enjoyment out of this series as a whole, and find its a welcome to the addition to Earth-807128 lore, I just hope it picks up a bit into more of a must read. Best issue thus far and showing this lawless land falling over itself for the first sign of freedom is fun. Peter trying to redeem himself for his previous failures is actually fun. This was the best issue yet and one I’m sure will make for a more wide open story going forward!
The series may seem to be moving a little slow at the moment, but it is at least giving us a good dose of action, character moments and cool nods to classic Marvel characters, while also setting us up with enough mystery to make me want to keep reading. As if I wouldn't already, because this is one of Marvel's best alternate realities, and Ethan Sacks has chosen one of the best ways possible to expand on it with this series.
This issue was about as good as the last, if not a little better. It's a bit slow, but I like the world and the characters.
Still not really working for me, dunno why.
