For my money, Shang-Chi remains one of the best ongoing Marvel comics around and I'm already looking forward to the next "Master of the Ten Rings" series. Read Full Review
Shang-Chi and the Ten Rings #6 ends the second arc with a three-way fight that leads to a new status quo for one character, a rekindling of old rivalries for another, and predictably cements Shang-Chi's role as the bearer of the Ten Rings. This is a thoroughly satisfying finale (or maybe it's more of a chapter-ending? Why has Marvel split Gene Luen Yang's run into all these miniserieses, anyway?).
The art remains clean, dynamic, and appealing. The dialogue's decent, the conclusion delivers some nice insight into Shang-Chi's character, and I for one was pleasantly surprised by the Big Twist™.
This series had humble goals throughout, and consistently solid storytelling really made the most of them.
Tournament arc over and it's fun!
Gene Luen Yang's Shang-Chi is getting yet another reboot (but not really) for the third time. It is tough out here for comics huh?
But if that's what it takes then that is what it takes. 23 issues is very good in today's standards for series with a sole creative team. Let's see if they can get another 10.
