The series resolves with some nice endings for T'onga, Losha, and Valance as they get a chance at a relatively more conventional life. But the door is left open for future adventures should Ethan Sacks or someone else want to resurrect the series. Read Full Review
The book largely wraps up most of the storylines well enough without putting too concrete a touch on it so any of the characters can be picked up again easily enough. The only one who doesn't make out too well in aw ay is Bossk but that's just how it goes for Trandoshans. I'm glad it does touch on others such as Tasu and Vukorah and the like as well and I'm sure we'll see the strange pairing of Zucukuss and 4-LOM again someday as well. As a whole, the Bounty Hunters series frustrated me more than anything else because so much of it felt like it was reacting and bouncing from larger events and crossovers than being able to tell its own story. I'm sure there were moments of inspired creativity because of it but it's also why the Star Wars books as a whole continue to be frustrating at times because of the “Marvelization” of the storytelling. There's plenty to like as a big action series that gets to be over the top so it works well in its intent, but I had hoped for something Read Full Review
Over the course of 42 issues, the series has woven in and out of major Star Wars crossover events, meeting the bare minimum of expectations and moving on. Read Full Review
Great issue that perfectly captured the essence of what this book was capable at when at it's best, a fun cheesy action story with the scoundrels in the Star Wars universe. The problem with the series was that it would get diluted with too many new characters constantly being thrown at you without you ever giving you a reason to get invested in these characters or it would drag on side stories with the less compelling characters. In the end the series was enjoyable but nothing special.
All the books of this era have significantly struggled by dragging out the timeline before Jedi too long resulting in mediocre stories. The previous era was far superior and hope the next phase of series can recapture that magic.
A good wrap-up to the series, which for me has occasionally hit some fun highs and relatively few lows during its run. It started to feel like it was running out of gas the past 6 months or so, so it was nice to be treated to one last fun adventure this issue. The big question about this issue is why the Mega Droid wasn’t seen during the Droid War issues of STAR WARS that took place with Lando in Jabba’s palace. A possessed Mega Droid would certainly have laid waste to the palace, which I guess we can’t have in the run-up to Return of the Jedi.
It's so sad that this is how Sacks decided to end this series. An over-sized issue where nothing happens. There was no reason to connect this with the lead into to Return of the Jedi. T'onga and the group didn't even know he was going to end up fighting the droid and yet they came to his rescue. The end was tied up so easily. It was generally a bad issue all around. It was the final issue of the series. He literally could have done anything and this was his best. Just sad.
