I was worried after Kelly Sue Deconnick's epic run it might slip but no, it hit a pace and actually picked up from there. Captain Marvel isn't just Marvels premiere female superhero, she's flat-out their premiere superhero. Read Full Review
Next issue sees the completion of the Alien Nation arc. I'm looking forward to seeing how Carol deals with her child “allergy” and am hoping there will be some sort of hint towards the resolution between Carol and Tony Stark. Read Full Review
The creative team are doing a wonderful job, but they need to get past this problem and I hope they do. This series deserves to be the best, and it isn't that far off from getting there. Read Full Review
I live in hope, dear reader. Not for this book, which I will see through the 4th issue of 4, but if I was a new reader to Captain Marvel, this series would not be convincing me that Carol is worth spending my dollars on. Read Full Review
This is a perfectly serviceable series; it's just in danger of becoming a forgettable one. Read Full Review
The pieces seem to be all there, but there is something about the pacing and tone that just isn't working.
Her biological "starstuff" origins exposition came across as "janky". Plus any clarity why this shapeshifter mystery mission should be compelling still eludes me. On the plus side, pleasant art, TAI cameo, Puck and "Squatch" get facetime.
This series is just soooo not what it could be. Stohl's explanations are so convoluted it's just pathetic. I'm seriously thinking of giving up this series so early in.
Captain Marvel desperately needs a stronger direction. Hopefully Marvel's NotRebirth will ground the character and provide some much needed humanity.
Some bit of genetic nonsensium in alien kids like the orphan Bean is messing with Carol's Kree super-biology. The shapeshifting bounty hunter who's still after Bean reveals there's some as-yet-undefined nemesis waiting for Carol once she gets her ☠☠☠☠ together. This book is a hot, disjointed mess of sub-Star-Trek caliber technobabble being poorly held together by sub-sub-sub-Buffy caliber dialogue and plotting that's equal parts nonsensical and disappointing.
