I haven't read this yet, but what do you find so mediocre about it?
• For someone like Carol Danvers, being super famous isn't exactly enjoyable - she'd rather be focused on her job as commander of Alpha Flight Space Station than worried about who's playing her on the new Captain Marvel TV show.
• So when her crew discovers that a shady character is hunting for alien refugee children, Carol jumps on the case.
Rated T+
Id say this is a good read. Its a story about a woman frustrated with the people around her and how she keeps a cool head, nonetheless. It has an ongoing mystery that Im sure will bite Carol in the butt soon enough and Im interested in seeing how that will go down. Reading this comic makes me want to go back and read previous Captain Marvel comics in order to have a better understanding of her crew and her history. If you like Captain Marvel, youll definitely like her new series. Read Full Review
And overall the story is moving along and it's entertaining. But there is still room for improvement; the pacing is still very odd, with scenes just not flowing well from beat to beat. And I think I have to admit that Rosanas' art style is just not for me. But I really like the team of characters on the space station and Stohl does a good job writing the rapport between them. Criticisms aside, The Mighty Captain Marvel #2 has been doing a pretty decent job of getting Carol back on track after Civil War II. We do see some of her guilt still residing after the entire thing, but the series is more focused on Carol balancing her work and her newfound popularity. I cant wait to see where the series goes next, especially in regards to the Kree refugee crisis. Read Full Review
All in all, I wasn't sure what to expect from this book, so having it end up being a slightly above-average experience was a pleasant surprise. Unfortunately, Carol's run as Captain Marvel has been full of incredible stores and really strong character moments, making a slightly off take feel amplified. Even so, The Mighty Captain Marvel #2 has potential. Read Full Review
It was kinda just fodder, no real value. All this stuff could have been condensed and more fast paced. I really don't know about Stohl's pacing. But the comedy of the show and the cat is cute. I just wish there was more substance.
Cap'n Marvel's powers are on the fritz, and it might be due to her new Kree orphan. Plus the bounty hunter Carol saved her from isn't done by a long shot. I truly want to like this title but Margaret Stohl is making it challenging. Maybe I'm reading too critically because I'm emotionally invested, but there are a lot of narrative choices here I disagree with. The biggest one remains Ms. Stohl's dedication to the "Captain Marvel has a TV series" subplot. It's definitely stupid, but not the sort of ha-ha stupid the author is aiming for.
So far so bad. Stool needs to find a better foil for Danvers. As things stand, the book is sinking fast.
I find this book offensive on how mediocre it is.
