MESSIAH COMPLEX PART 6 Battered by Sinister, the X-Men retreat to the mansion to lick their wounds. But the X-Men's enemies never rest. The school is overrun by a mysterious new player who enlists one of the X-Men's oldest foes.
Overall, this is another great installment of the Messiah Complex. The action of this issue is intense and serves as a great introduction to the new X-Force. The mystery behind the whole story deepens as the newest target of the X-Men and the Marauders, and eventually the Purifiers, becomes Cable. This is my Pick of the Week. Read Full Review
While most issues have done a respectable job of balancing the various factions involved, this issue doesn't even try to focus on a more than a few. That's not necessarily a bad thing in my mind, but it will be a problem if the crossover starts to develop "Countdown syndrome" during its second half. For now, though, anyone who's annoyed that Magneto, Apocalypse, or Onslaught haven't shown up should just shut up and enjoy the ride. Uncanny X-Men #493 was another excellent installment of Messiah Complex. This story arc has been an absolute joy to read. If you haven't been getting these issues, then you are really missing out on one of the greatest X-Men stories in an incredibly long time. I'll continue to say what I've said all along: "Messiah Complex" is turning out to be great. It's kept its momentum throughout and the story is paced perfectly, each issue carrying a sense of importance. A undeniable success so far. Read Full Review
The cover by Finch is a surprisingly tender one of Cable (loaded with ammo and metal parts and pieces) cradling the newborn Messiah with protective fervor. His role in the unfolding story is still a subplot, but probably not for long, as so far things have moved very briskly. Read Full Review
It's just a really long action scene. It's an...ok action scene, which is detailed enough thanks to the fact the the full issue is dedicated to it, but it's still not great, and i still wish the issue wasn't focused on that.
The ending was interesting but it's dependant on the quality of this X-Force team after it starts, so who knows now.
