After a string of mediocre issues, X-Men Gold #28 is a breath of fresh air featuring entertaining dialogue, chilling moments from its villain, and stellar scenes from Kitty Pryde. Read Full Review
Still, despite some small art hiccups, the strengths of this issue far outweigh the flaws, delivering one of the best installment of X-Men Gold in weeks. Read Full Review
X-Men Gold #28 is an issue that doesnt get a lot done for the plot, but it gets by on charm, solid dialogue, and great artwork from the team. Despite showing the stretchmarks of the current arc, I can still recommend this comic easily. Check it out. Read Full Review
X-MEN GOLD #28 lacks the exciting climatic and expositional moments a mid-arc issue needs to succeed. The X-Men chase their kidnapped Colossus into space. The raw plot is full of potential, so it takes a special sort of magic writing to sand it down into this thoroughly "meh" adventure. The art works hard to elevate the best moments, but it doesn't get a lot of script support. The Evil Pundit Lady falls into the absolute depth of cliched villain behavior - "So confident am I of my victory, I shall stop fighting and gloat."
Finally we return to our regularly schedule programming. I thought X-Men: Gold could get better, but oh boy I was wrong.
