Empress #3 is yet another strong entry in the series, giving us plenty of excitement as well as some shocking moments. It also once again left us on a gripping cliffhanger and along with the tense atmosphere during the final moments, it did plenty to leave readers eager for more. Read Full Review
The cliffhanger to the issue is not dissimilar to a gimmick that was used at the start of this very issue, one that shows the limitations of their chosen form of transport. Yet it may also show the limits to the format of this book so far as well. While one of the strengths is definitely that it recognizes itself as a high-concept action piece, that dedication to a lack of exposition may ultimately hamper enjoyment down the line. So far Im thoroughly enjoying this mad dash through space that Millar and Immonen are taking us on. I can already see the potential for a juicy and thrilling story forming, with dynamic relationships and complex characters. Im looking forward to venturing deeper into this exciting space adventure and seeing more of this familys desperate search for sanctuary and survival. Read Full Review
Issue #3 of Empress shows no signs that the series is slowing down and, as was the case withthe first two issues, begs you to grab the next one. Almost unbelievably, the story seems to be picking up pace and only getting better. Read Full Review

It's a fast paced sfi-fi action romp. It's pretty cool. I mean it has people busting out of random areas and the King Morax is just so daunting. This story is an instant classic and the art of Immonen is perfect for this comic. And the Deodato variant cover mmmmmm mmmmmm mmmmm.
I feel Mark isn't putting his all into the script. Art is great though.
I could take or leave the whole 'getting eaten and then shooting your way out' cliche. Villains that destroy their minions left and right get kind of old too, but I understand that it's necessary to this particular plot. I do like the adventure though, and the family dynamic is the glue holding this thing together.
Pretty shallow really.
Tried to get into it. Just wasn't feeling it.
