This issue is definitely the start of something much larger. It also feels like classic Ninjak which if you were a fan of the previous run may or may not be a good thing. As a fan of classic Ninjak and the previous Matt Kindt run this was fine for me. If you've never read an issue of Ninjak before and are a fan of hard hitting and hack and slash action then this is as good a place as any to start reading. If you are a fan then this is definitely worth continuing to read. Read Full Review
Excellent espionage issue that reminds us this is going to be one hell of a TV show. Read Full Review
Overall, a really great read for an issue that might fly right under the radar with a lot of readers. Don't miss it. And is you can, remember the name Kevin Maurer, because he seems to have what it takes to craft a great comic book story. Read Full Review
Although I'm sad to see this one come to an end, it's not like the character of Ninjak is going anywhere. If anything Ninjak is going to be everywhere over the next year or so with the Rapture mini series, a new ongoing series later this year and at some point the web series Ninjak vs the Valiant Universe will drop. So we won't be at a loss for Ninjak. With that being said this book has been one of my favourites this year and if not for the excellent Bloodshot Reborn, would have been my top book. It was a good finale and I can't wait for more. Read Full Review
With a nod toward humanity facing some pretty dangerous things that we've gotten a look at in past Ninjak issues, focusing on how mankind is going to fight back in secret isn't a surprise, nor that it'll be coming from non-governmental facilities. Ninjak puts Colin back on the job in a decent way here, though I would have liked to have seen more of what had gone on between the last issue and this one with how Colin is situated now. Maurer and Cafu put together a solid book here that's setting things up well and shows their style and intent. It's one that feels more grounded toward what Ninjak should be like at times while still allowing for the more fantastical elements. I'm curious to see where it'll go and how the structure of it will work compared to what we've had so far and to see what Maurer can bring new to the table for Colin. Read Full Review
Ninjak #27 is a turning point for the series. It will pivot into a larger storyline called Rapture. Starting points often have a tendency to get lost in transition, but, thankfully, Ninjak #27 is not one of them. Read Full Review
Ninjak #27 was a fun little adventure for Ninjak that while its own thing still sets up some new developments that I wouldn't count out getting back to after Rapture. If there's one thing you keep in mind as a reader of Ninjak, it's that all things matter in the grand scheme of this evolving world. Read Full Review
With Matt Kindt taking a breather between arcs, writer Kevin Maurer proves an excellent placeholder. Read Full Review
Ninjak #27 is pure tactical espionagein a world of genetically-enhanced assassins, special operations forces, and Ninjas battling one another, their own ethics, and the geopolitical realities of their world. If you like G.I. Joe or Metal Gear, you will love this issue. It is a strong debut for writerKevin Maurer, who we can only hope to see more of in the Valiant Universe. Read Full Review
Ninjak #27 is what I've been aching for a while now. It feels like in some ways an ode to action films panning the 80's and 90's. But also I got a Metal Gear Solid vibe as well. But strongest of all was the GI JOE movie from 1987, which I rented every chance I got as a kid. Speaking of kids, this is a perfect comic to introduce young readers to. Be sure to add Ninjak #27 to your pull list this Wednesday. Read Full Review
