All New Fathom (2017) #1

Feb 14, 2017

Blake Northcott does a lot of interesting things especially with the narrative. Using a flashback and parodied social media sites to show not only the events of the issue through Aspen's perspective but the public's as well. This issue is extremely entertaining to read and any comic that starts with what's essentially a shoryuken into the sky is a must read for action lovers.

All New Aspen offers a lot. There's great action, gorgeous art and commentary on the comic industry and social media as a whole. The commentary is a nice breath of fresh air as well. Sometimes things like that can feel heavy handed or preachy but it seems level headed so far.

All New Fathom (2017) #3

As mentioned before this issue is more about building up future events and battles. So it gets wordy. Perhaps too wordy for the reader that just wants more cool fights. For everyone else the characters charm and the bit of action that is present should whet the appetite.

Amerikarate #5

Aug 15, 2017

Amerikarate seems to be going by a bit of a formula now. Though not a chore at all to read it doesn't feel as fresh as it's first arc. It could use something different happening, especially at the end. No spoilers here but if you have been reading the issue since it began you'll know when you read this issue. The art and the punchlines are great though, especially for fans of Adult Swim type comedy. Amerikarate # 5 is still solid but didn't feel as mind blowing as previous issues. Amerikarate # 5 gets a7.5 out of 10.

Amerikarate #6

The creative team behind Amerikarate seemed to have been training as hard as Sam does during the making of this issue. It's zany, over the top, and it still has a plot that it doesn't lose sight of. The jokes hit as hard as Sam's fists, which is pretty dang hard if you've seen how normal bodies react to it. Readers of Amerikarate since issue 1 especially should love this issue and it's ending. Amerikarate karate chops a 9 out of 10.

Character interactions and character art make this enjoyable. Along with the raised stakes at the end. But if you haven't been reading Artful before this isn't a good jump on spot. It also feels like the pacing is out of whack. The ending feels abrupt as well.

Britannia (2016): We Who Are About to Die #1

Apr 24, 2017

This comic is definitely 100 percent for mature audiences only. It's not just because of random gory parts but also because this is very smartly written. This book is totally worth reading for those who want something that's intelligent and intriguing, and don't mind some blood.

BubbleGun (2017) #1

May 15, 2017

The book is a lot of fun to read, the plot flows well enough and is nothing short of beautiful to look at. The only complaint that can be thought of at the moment would be that it may not be as friendly to new readers who aren't familiar with Bubble Gun's first run. But it isn't completely out of reach to new readers. The main plot isn't so dense, the how's and why's of what's going is spelled out. But character backstory and growth won't be as appreciated by new readers if they just jump into this blind.

Danger Doll Squad #0

Aug 10, 2017

If you have never read any of the three titles that are Zombie Tramp, Vampblade, or Dollface you'd do well to start with this. It covers their origins and past meetings though in a quick way. If you have read them before, well, you'll probably pick this up anyway. But, just take notice most of this you'll already know except for the last part and it ends so abruptly. Cliffhangers are good but it seems odd. But the art is fantastic and makes this comic worth reading once at least. Danger Doll Squad an 8 out of 10

If you think Dollface is just some dumb comic where there's nudity and violence just for the sake of it you'd be wrong and this issue really drives that home. The feeling of being overwhelmed with side plots from the previous three issues is gone in this one. The pacing is so much better and on top of that the character designs and action are worth checking out. The ending leaves a desire for more as well. Starstruck is a true unique piece of art. It's set in a universe with a lot of depth and that truly feels like it's definitely been lived in. The story got a little hard to follow at times as there were no transitions, from one segment to another sometimes. Meaning the reader should be paying attention. Vampblade: '98 #1

There's a reason I chose to review this book. It's because I took to the fact it was set in 1998. There was something I got into '98 even though it all began in '94 kept on rolling in 95" Although this has nothing to do with that. It just made me nostalgic for it. OK! On to the book itself, this story is a lot of fun. It's like a tense thriller, with high octane action and a dose of sexiness all come together.
