Right!! It was so weird that Michelinie had Vulture kill Nathan, forgetting that they knew each other previously, but JMD saved the day!
I'm very thankful for this issue and this series. This really fills a hole in the fact that these are light, adventure filled comics that can also pack a punch when you least expect it. I felt bad for Croc in issue 1 when he got hit the Dark Purple Dawn because love isn't an emotion he has felt much if at all. This issue we get insight into Croc's backstory and this interpretation of him has a unimore
Batman must venture into the sewers as he hunts for the fabled sword of King Scimitar. But he quickly finds a devolving Killer Croc who won't let the caped crusader steal his child! But all Batman sees is...a doll? Meanwhile, Robin gets kidnapped while trailing Scarecrow. Looks like both heroes need a good doctor, but the only one to be found is a ...
Oh yes! A lot of pieces are being moved on the board here in intriguing ways!! Really exciting knowing that Batman is going to be confronting Ra's soon. In his five years of fighting crime in Gotham, Batman has never gone up against someone like the Demon's Head. The Demon's Brood who approached him last issue are not quite what they seem... There's a missing artifact in Gotham and Batman is one tmore
Batman comes face-to-face with the ninjas who have been tearing through the Gotham underworld. As the Dark Knight stares down the menacing assailants, he learns more about their mission as well as the name of the one they serve: the Demon's Head, Ra's al Ghul. Meanwhile, something prowls the sewers of Gotham City, a being whose mind has been warped...
A brilliant ending. Vulture and Spidey have one final fight (not really obviously). There are great moments Vulture has with Spidey and a heartfelt scene with Aunt May. All this and an old friend is back in town... A wonderful and underrated arc. J.M DeMatteis AND Sal Buscema are a dream team!
For the protection of his aunt and all he holds dear, Spider-Man has a fateful battle with Adrian Toomes as the Vulture -- and only one will walk away.
A fantastic issue. Vulture confronts May Parker but why?! The answer is one that gave me immense satisfaction is DeMatteis knows his continuity with Vulture and follows up on what Roger Stern and David Michellene did with Vulture previously. Amazing, no Spectacular issue.
In the arms of the Vulture! Aunt May is terrified for her life when Spidey's winged, elderly foe swoops in for the kill. How is May Parker embroiled in Spidey's latest duel?
Right!! It was so weird that Michelinie had Vulture kill Nathan, forgetting that they knew each other previously, but JMD saved the day!
An very underrated DeMatteis story. Vulture is back but not for long. The clock is ticking for Adrian Toomes and he has some accounts to settle before he meets his end. DeMatteis writes a ruthless and vengeful Vulture but beneath that is a bitter old man with regrets. DeMatteis also shows Peter's desperation in trying to help Harry after the events of "The Child Within" and how they impacted Petermore
A weakened and diminished Vulture returns to New York with a death wish for Spider-Man …and Aunt May!
This is one of my favorite Spidey issues of the Lee/Ditko era. A very engaging premise and the reveal of what's actually happening is satisfying!
A startling mystery tale where Spider-man "Goes Mad"!
This is bad. I would not want to hear this, yet alone read it. At least it was short. Imagine my shock to learn there is actually 6 more issues of this drek. No thanks. I'll stay out of this one.
Don't touch that dial! Picking up right after the season finale of the award-winning podcast, Batman: The Audio Adventures continues in this new seven-issue miniseries! Maybe I was being too harsh, but I really don't have the time to listen to the podcast. And with how much Batman content DC pumps out, I get very critical of Batman comics that I don't think are of a good enough quality.
That's totally fair. It's unlikely this mini will make a "top 10 Batman stories of all time list" but it will hopefully be a solid, fun story as a whole with the Audio Adventures charm of Silver/Bronze age mix of Batman adventures.
Perfectly sets up Season 1 with short stories focusing on several of the core characters. Riddler, Two-Face, Catwoman's and Robin's are my favorite but all are very enjoyable.
Story By Dennis McNicholas, Bobby Moynihan, Heidi Gardner, Paul Scheer, And More Art By Leonardo Romero, Juni Ba, And More Ah, you hear that beautiful racket? That's the music of Gotham City-the largest city in the world, the big gargoyle, the treasure of the night-anyone who calls it a crime-infested hellhole is dead wrong. No way hell has such gr...
A solid start and follow up to the Season 1 finale. I'm very curious to see where each of these threads are going. A fun set up issue that continues this wonderfully bizarre world of "Life and Death in Gotham City!"
