Lady Deathstrike is a lot of fun, and there's plenty of tension. But Jubilee's dialogue is, like, really annoying, like totally, y'know, major league the worst.

Actually, writer for the main (longest) Serpent Society story is Terry Austin, and Mark Vosburg is the artist. The Jubilee story was written by Sally Oashkow, and penciller is Jim Fern.

Bloodsport is surprisingly vicious, even Lex is horrified by his excesses. And Jimmy Olsen's great in this story.

The critic's review posted above is for a Supergirl series, not Adventures of Superman.

Entertaining, though Lex Luthor makes a series of un-Lex like mistakes in this issue. Also, I just noticed how many of Lex's employees are women. An equal opportunity employer ahead of his time!

Enjoyable Halloween special with Roy Thomas having some fun with the topical Women's Liberation movement. Plus it has Enchantress messing with people's heads. Also includes cameos from Roy Thomas himself and his wife as Spider-Man and Mrs Fantastic! (She thinks The Avengers is a UK TV show).

Enchantress steals the show...again.

Roy Thomas foresee global warming! Love the dramatic cover. I also liked how Silver Age comics made concepts like time travel and parallel universes so simple to grasp (unlike later ages where the mental gymnastics sometimes required to follow what's happening spoil all the fun).

Black Panther's origin issue, and it's pretty good! Just needed more Klaw.

Story idea by Harlan Ellison and guest starring Hulk! It even has an Avengers team of A-listers. A pity then that it's kind of average. Just feels like a long-winded set-up for an Incredible Hulk issue.

Loses half a point for the needlessly sensational and misleading cover headline. This issue also marks the first hint of something going on between Scarlet Witch and Vision: "Before now I've always thought of him as cold...aloof. But I was wrong...so wrong!"

Great conclusion to the series. I will miss Gene Luen Yang's writing. Hope he will be back for more issues.

Now I understand what all the hype has been about. The first issue was a bit underwhelming, but is issue 2 the story-telling and characterisation go to another level. I would have given it a perfect 10 but wasn't as blown away by the art as I was by the writing. Page after page of 9 panel layout isn't very dynamic, has a deadening effect on the eye.
