Through its origin and end, its duration, and its felt quality, quiet can convey depths of emotion and thought amazingly well. I am beyond excited to see more of this and to see what the team has in store for Batgirl with this new threat looking to end everything that the Bat-family holds dear. While the idea of a silent comic doesn't feel as fresh as it could be in this issue, Fletcher and Stewart pull it off amazingly well and have to thank Bengal for the majority of their success. They should be proud of their direct story that immediately draws us in and keeps us hooked until the very end, but silent issues heavily depend on the success of the artist. Tie in issues often feel bloated with heavy exposition, stating their reasons for existence and forcing an otherwise unnatural narrative. “Batgirl Endgame” doesn't concern itself with any of that. Instead it throws you into the situation and allows you to fill in the details for yourself. As part of the Endgame storyline, Batgirl: Endgame is a good read that helps illustrate the scope of The Jokers scheme nicely. If youre not following the Endgame story though, no one could blame you for skipping this issue. Theres a certain audacity to books like this, which used to be more common, that can still be appreciated, even if there is a perceived value reduction. The story is fantastically executed, and this actually stands as an evergreen issue, despite being a tie-in to a larger narrative. If this were a one-shot divorced from the Endgame label, itd work just as well. While it can be read quickly, it truly should be savored and theres plenty to appreciate from one panel to the next. However, it's a great issue to witness what makes the Batgirl character so interesting/great and it succeeds very well at being a silent issue. So let's recap, no words, stylised art, no Joker, so what is the point of the book? It's certainly not to advance the story and definitely not to introduce the Batgirl character, that ship has sailed. As for the Joker element, if you were expecting fireworks, given the history of the two characters, then you will be disappointed. Is it worth the extra strain on your wallet? I enjoyed it and the book is certainly a fun read, reminding me more of the Stephanie Brown Batgirl but I have to say, I probably wouldn't have gone out of my way to buy this book. Read Full Review

I'm still very much on the fence about the New 52's version of Black Canary, or her new title as the lead singer of a touring band, but at least Batgirl: Endgame #1 makes Dinah less of the vacuous bitch than she's been in the last few issues of Batgirl and allows the former besties to finally bury a hatchet whose very existence was perplexing to begin with. Finally, BABS seems to be fighting some actual threatening crime! However in this one-shot, her first new badass Endgame Virus rescue is done with no words. That's right" just art, and it took the two same disappointing writers, Brenden Fletcher and Cameron Stewart, to "write it". At least the art is a huge step up from Batgirl #35-#40. Read Full Review

If Im being honest, Bengals art is the only reason to pick this up, and although its good it may not be worth the full price. Check this issue out through any discount mailing service or online store, because its as slight as it gets but is moderately entertaining. Not a bad issue, but hardly essential for anything. While I don't understand the point of this being a silent issue, it was welcomed because the art in this issue was just fantastic.  If you need to get all of the issues that are sporting the Endgame title, then this doesn't really matter because you're going to pick it up anyway, but this is such a quick read that I don't really see the point of it. A quick read that contributes nothing unique or necessary to either the current Batgirl title or Endgame, if you've already purchased this, chances are you found it mildly entertaining as I did or you're seething at the waste of it all. Batgirl Endgame is for the Endgame completists. I do not recommend this comic book for those that follow the Batgirl title. You may be left wanting more. If you are not following Endgame at all then this issue is completely avoidable. It's confusing and adds nothing to the character unfortunately. Really well-executed story. Great use of "show, don't tell".

What do you know? As long as this new, annoying, unlikeable Barbara Gordon and everyone from Burnside avoids opening their mouth or speaking at all, you end up with a really good comic. It makes me wish it had been like this for the entirety of Fletcher's reign.

Not really necessary, but a well executed silent issue nonetheless.
