Since this event is crossing all three Superman books it will have a somewhat lasting effect on Superman in the DC universe, but only time will tell. For now, though, I’m just enjoying the ride.

Superman questions himself in the issue, "Who the hell do I think I am?" and I think we all know. In the hands of Greg Pak and Aaron Kuder he's one of the most well-written superheroes DC has right now.

Action Comics is paving the way for another great Superman story. Kuder and Pak's run has been a must-read so if you haven't read yet, this is a perfect time to hop on.

If you thought the first arc was special, then you haven't seen anything yet. We're in for an epic adventure.

This is issue is full of fun and heart. Even though it's not Steve Rogers. This is Captain America.

Overall, it's a fun issue, and the back-up helps to establish more feuding between the Spiders and the rest of Morlun's family.

Overall, this was another great issue of Spider-Verse. I might actually stick around once this event is over.

All in all, Spider-Verse has been a complete blast so far, if you're missing out on this make sure to check it out!

Even though this is considered the finale, It's not really the end of Spider-Verse as well still have a lot of strands to wrap up in the epilogue, and even though this issue was a little lackluster I'm definitely looking forward to that.

Slott does a good job of covering most of his bases to make everything make sense in world. Something that might have slipped out of control with a lesser writer. With Camuncoli backing him up, they deliver a solid ending to a very fun event that will go down as one of the better Spider-Man tales in recent memory.

It's quick, and fun, but Batgirl: Endgame is also smart for avoiding direct confrontation with The Joker, and instead focusing on the ripple effects he is causing throughout the city.

Zero Year barrels towards its conclusions with only two issues left. Anyone who’s a fan of a rip-roaring good time should be reading this. Get off the internet and read it now.

From the beginning of the New 52, Batman has been a top notch, fireball of a comic. It’s been passionate, lively, and insular all at once. It’s been everything I’ve wanted out of a Batman comic and more. That hasn’t changed in 32 issues.

So please, now that it's over. Go read Zero Year. Go read the new quintessential Batman origin.

With Endgame being the next big arc for Snyder, it sounds like it's going to be a game-changer. Hopefully, it will set up a possiblity for more one-off stories from the team just like this one. It showcases why Batman is who he is. Even during massive events, Batman can never forget to help the invisible, the meek.

So to everyone getting excited about the big return, my word of advice is don't. Let's see where this goes, but I think Snyder and Capullo have some tricks up their sleeves for us.

As I said before, Batman #36 is the ride up before the big drop on a roller coaster. I can't wait for the drop.

On top of having an interesting philosophical discussion, the issue is also quite scary. With several creepy moments that are perfect for this new Joker. These moments are thanks to Capullo, Miki, and Placensia working as a cohesive unit. Separately, they're all great, but together they're creating a masterpiece run.

As Batman heads towards an uncertain fate, one that potentially lead to a completely altered Gotham, I'm left with a thought. This isn't the end, instead it's the start of a new beginning, one that I'm terribly excited for.

The stakes have never been higher, and while that's been said before, I honestly believe it this time. Batman has always been two steps ahead, but with his back against the wall there might not be any more steps left to take.

I can't recommend this comic enough. This team has defined a Batman that will be remembered for a long time. While it might be the end of one story, it's opening up so many options for the future of Gotham.

Batman #42 is vibrant, kinetic, but, most importantly, fun. Whether you're an old fan or someone looking for something new, this book is highly recommended.

Batman: Futures End #1, terrible title and confusing numbering aside, is a phenomenal issue. Somehow , within only 40 pages Snyder and co-writer Ray Fawkes have crafted an action-packed by psychologically dense portrait of Bruce Wayne in his twilight years.

It’s back, people. Black Science has returned and it doesn’t hold back any punches. Prepare yourselves for an emotional plunge and return to this beautiful multiverse.

Black Science #8. as usual, continues to blast forward providing thrills, chills, and just the right amount of tender moments to make this a must-buy.

Despite a slightly disappointing ending and a lot of sideways momentum, Black Science is still great. If this is an issue that disappoints me, then I have no real reason to complain.

The plot stutters, but the art rages on in another solid issue of Black Science.

Black Science is heading in an exciting direction, and again, the most interesting part is the many universes they visit.

Black Science is beginning to show it's hand a little, and it's all the more better for it. With the direction it's heading, driven by the talented team of Rick Remender, Matteo Scalera, Moreno Dinisio, and Rus Wooton, everything is golden right now. Let's just hope it doesn't run out of gas.

After 14 issues, Black Science may have reached it's emotional apex, I don't think it can get anymore terrifying and joyous than this.

Black Science barrels forward this issue hardly taking a moment to pause after a quiet introduction only to be halted violent ending. Faithful readers will find a lot to like in this issue as we're given lots of action and a good heaping of character moments.

Burning Fields is off to a great start from a talented team that deserves some recognition. Check it out if you like action, political thrills, and a sinking feeling in your stomach.

Burning Fields is building up an epic story that utlizes both modern and ancient fears. This slow build is heading towards a powder keg explosion. Hop on now before it's too late.

Captain America #21 may not be the best in the series, but the art team remains killer and the book takes us in an interesting direction.

Captain America is now in it's final stages. For those who have been following since the beginning this arc should be incredibly satisfying. For those who haven't been reading it's best to avoid this series until it finishes with issue #25 and then catch up via trade!

It's strange, even though we have a semblance of an idea of where this story is going due to all of the major announcements from Marvel, it's still a thrilling issue. Only one issue left, I can't wait to see how it ends.

All in all, this is a wonderful send-off for Steve Rogers and a love letter to Sam Wilson that has me more excited for Captain America than I've ever been before.

Descender continues to prove it's one of the best books on the shelf. Writing, art, and lettering coalesce into something fun, dynamic, and alive. This is a comic not to be missed.

Yes, this is a series that reminds me of silver age escapades, but revitalized under a darker and modern tone. This style suits the book well because even as outlandish as it all seems it is tightly conveyed as street level. The criminals are gangs in drug war, not the Riddler creating an apocalyptic wasteland. Batman still struggles. It reminds us that Batman is human under the mask.

Detective Comics: Endgame #1 is a fun, but fleeting story featuring an underused character at their most vulnerable, and bolstered by loose, but intense art.

Despite minor quibbles with some dialogue and plot advancement, Goldie Vance is a wonderful book for young readers who want to begin to delve into the absurd and have some fun.

I could go on for pages detailing everything I love about a comic, but what I love most is that this feels like a huge risk DC is taking. It's in no way a typical DC book. It feels much more like an indie superhero story. Comic fans have been clamoring for something new and fresh. This is it. So please, check out this first issue. See what the hype is about. You won't regret it.

This issue is leading us to some important moments in Kamala's life, along the way it imparts some great lessons for both her and us.

Ms. Marvel continues to one of the most fun and compelling books on the stands.

While this issue still boasts the same charms as previous issues, it feels somewhat shoehorned and lacks any kind of Kamala struggle we've seen before.

Ms. Marvel's first arc might be over, but her real story is just beginning. After sticking the landing i'm excited to see where Kamala goes next in the Marvel Universe.

After a full year, Ms. Marvel is still running smoothly with excellent issue after excellent issue. As long as Wilson is on board writing I don't expect that to change any time soon.

With the introduction of new supporting characters, and a larger Inhuman presence, Ms. Marvel continues to be one of the best books Marvel puts out, even when they tell a smaller story about a girl with a crush.

Ms. Marvel continues to impress by mixing action, heart, and real-world issues in a way that everybody can enjoy.

The real draw here though is the mystery and gorgeous artwork by Mike Henderson. The dreary atmosphere makes me feel like I’m actually in the Pacific Northwest. Everything feels rained on. There are plenty of beautifully drawn scenes here that even Henderson’s missteps don’t bother too much. There are a few faces here and there that seem off, but, like I said, it’s not anything that is truly bothersome.

With even more Silence of the Lambs references, Nailbiter #4 continues to impress, shock, and elicit a few dark chuckles. If you've been looking for a “nailbiting” and suspenseful horror book then pick this up.

Like I said, it's hard to really talk about this book without spoiling anything. So let me just say this: if you like stories with excitment, great art, and well-developed characters then look into Nailbiter.

Even though this issue isn't as strong as previous ones, it's still very fun, and definitely worth a pick-up. Oh, and the epilogue? Absolutely dark and horrifying.

This might sound like a negative review, but it's not. Even though the plot is starting to veer wildly into the territory of the weird and bizarre, I'm still enjoying this book a lot. Some things don't work, but when they do it's crazy fun.

Despite the simple plot and barebones characterzation so far, Planet Hulk is bolstered by pure spectacle and breathtaking art. It's a thrill ride worth paying the price of admission.

So if you love badass females, cosmic horror, side-aching laughter, or just eating a lot of candy and drinking 'til you pass out then Rat Queens is for you.

Everyone should be reading Rat Queens. The reason why it is so great isn't just because of it's side-splitting, crude sense of humor. It's because underneath the layer of sass and sorcery there's a hell of a lot of heart.

Despite dangling almost too many plot threads in front of readers, Roche Limit never loses focus and dazzles with compelling story, characters, and art.

As we approach the finale of the first arc, the stakes have been raised to catastrophic levels. Moreci has noted that the next arc will be removed from this current one so I look forward to the chaos that might ensue next month!

Issue #19 continues this trend of intimacy with aplomb. They may not be running from assassins and mercenaries, but it is definitely not boring.

This is the issue where they admit it, Saga isn’t trying to change the world, maybe just change the way you feel, but only for a little bit. Even still, they want you to come back again and again for it, and I know I will.

I enjoyed this issue very much from it's action to intimacy to laughs. This is a book that truly never disappoints. If you've been loving this book, you'll continue to love it.

Saga #23 is thrilling and heartbreaking in all the right ways, and leaves us with a hopeless sense of "Oh, now what can go wrong?"

Brian K. Vaughn and Fiona Staple are in complete and utter control of their story. They are masters of their craft. At the end of this chapter, there is no doubt of this.

However, I trust in Fiona Staples and Brian K. Vaughn, though this issue moved at an incredibly fast clip it's still great. It just left me wanting a little bit more.

Newcomers beware, this would be a terrible issue to hop on, For the faithful who have been reading since the beginning, this is a fantastic issue that peers deeply into one of Saga's two lead characters.

Saga, unsuprisingly, continues to be one of the best books on the market. Filled with humor, heart, and drama, it's a definite must-buy.

Saga #30 ends it's fifth arc with a strong landing. It's heartfelt and dramatic leaving our characters in new situations with dramatically different dynamics, especially for our narrator, Hazel.

Without the urgency of the original Spider-Verse, this mini-series stutters a little. Despite that, there's a lot to enjoy about this book from the writing to the art (including a hilarious back-up featuring Spider-Ham).

All in all, Spider-Woman has been a surprisingly decent tie-in book so far. Now that time is over and hopefully we can get into the real meat and bones of the character with this new status quo.

This issue is a prime example of a bad tie-in. It doesn't really do anything at all to advance the Doomed story, or it's own characters.

Regardless, Superior Foes hits the right chords consistently and as loud as possible. It’s hard to make comics better than this.

Superior Foes takes a breather this month with a character-focused issue, that ultimately leads to a "shocking" turn of a events. If you've been reading along, you'll love it. If you haven't, then what the hell are you still waiting for?

It's sad that this series is coming to an end in two issues. What could have been a shlocky piece of crap, turned out to be a schlocky masterpiece.

As Superior Foes finishes its penultimate chapter all I can say is: to those who haven't been reading, you've been missing out on a masterpiece.

Tony Daniel, for some reason, is off-duty for this issue, and his replacement is Thony Silas. To compare the two would be silly. Daniel is world-renowned for his abilities to gorgeously render DC's favorite super-heroes closest to their "House Style" while still retaining his own flavor. Thony on the other hand is a lot different. I think DC took a risk in allowing him to draw the book and it paid off. His style is much more likely to be seen in an "indie" book. It surprisingly reminds me a little bit of Matteo Scalera's, who also actually drew Batman this week as well. Regardless, I think his art is very successful in capturing almost everything in the book. I enjoyed it quite a bit and hope to see more of his work in DC books. My only qualm is that his Doomsday isn't very menacing, especially compared to Tony Daniel's or Aaron Kuder's. Still considering the small amount of Doomsday actually in this book it's a very minor quibble.

Unfotunately, Jesus Saiz's artwork and Capucine don't entirely save this issue from it's blunders. Still, I'm hesitantly optimistic to see where this series goes next.

Swamp Thing is now on an upswing after the fantastic Futures End issue. Now with "The Machine Queen" off to such a strong start, I have no doubt that Charles Soule will end his run with a bang.

Minus a few pacing problems (one caused by a bizarrely placed ad right at the end of the comic), Swamp Thing is heading towards its send-off in grand fashion. Clearly, Charles Soule and Jesús Saíz are having a lot of fun making this story as crazy as possible.

Swampy is heading towards a glorious ending, one that we should all celebrate. Very rarely do we get a run that is consistently great that lasts 4 straight years.

With a solid start The Life After is going to be an intriguing series that I recommend picking up.

Futures End is a series I’m going to keep coming back to every week with it at the top of pile, not because it’s fantastic or terrible, but because it has the potential to be both. That’s what makes this series so interesting.

Futures End #4 recaptures the goodness of Issue #1 and proves that this series has potential to be something very interesting. Long live Frankenstein!

Once again, Futures End loses grasp of potential intrigue due to heavy confusing exposition and very little happening that is actually interesting.

If you were considering dropping Futures End don’t do it just yet. With strong art and storylines beginning to ramp up, issue #6 shows the potential that this series has to offer.

Overall, it’s good to see Futures End heading in the right direction. Mysteries continue to expand as new characters are introduced, but the story doesn’t seem to be slowing down anymore. From this point onward hopefully it barrels onward. Grab some snacks, a soda, and enjoy the ride.

Futures End is slowly pulling away from the station. As the story progresses it will be harder and harder to jump on. So if you’re still on the fence about whether or not to read along let me help you make that decision: do it. Grab the rest of the issues and catch up. This is going to be the blockbuster hit of the summer. You can bet on that.

As usual, the art continues to impress with Lopresti stepping in this week. The story keeps chugging along and I’m hoping a Frankenstein, Hawkman, Amethyst, and Atom team book springs out of this.

So grab a drink, kick back, and enjoy the book. It might be a bit slower than the previous issues, but that only means that once the action hits it'll be that much better.

This is a story that'll be worth going back, when all is said and done, to read as one giant tale.

I'll be honest and say, I've never been too knowledgeable about the Valiant universe. Many of the characters I've only seen in cursory glances at my local comic shop. However, with a stellar team of Matt Kindt, Jeff Lemire, & Paolo Rivera leading the way, The Valiant is one of the most exciting and downright creepy comics on the market.

The Valiant has succeeded in ways that few books have recently, it's actually fun.

A bombastic, cliff-hanger of an issue that truly doesn’t let up once it starts, The Wake #9 proves that this is Snyder and Murphy working at their best. I’m sad and excited for the final issue next month.

I’ll end this review with a quote from co-lead Leeward that perfectly describes how we should read “The Wake”, or any comic for that matter: “Don’t cry! Be brave! It’s all an adventure!”

So “What is Thomas Alsop?” to be honest I’m not sure. It’s part knock-off Hellblazer, part supernatural Scarlet Letter. I don’t think the story has found its footing just yet, but it definitely has the potential to turn itself around.

This issue is action-packed, with just enough emotional heft to carry the reader through. I’m excited for the Planet X arc to be over now, and see where the future (or past) of Uncanny Avengers takes us next.

By the end of this you’ll feel as played as the characters in the story, but that’s a good thing. A very good thing.

We can already see how Uncanny Avengers is shaping the Marvel universe. With only three issues left to what I can assume will be a reflective arc to end this bombastic series we will see more changes. Take a breath now, readers. Enjoy this quiet victory. The Red Onslaught awaits us.

It's not perfect, but it's got more than enough great moments to warrant a buy.

Uncanny Avengers has been an absolute thrill to read from start to finish. Even though this is the end, it's also the start of something much, much bigger.

Uncanny Avengers gets off to a strong, but slow start. Remender tends to play the long game with his stories. Eventually this will all culminate in a major cathartic moment.

While the story moves slowly, which is typical of Remender's writing style. There's still enough dramatic heft and action to keep one interested as a monthy installment.

The first issue of Wayward left me craving for more. I've barely even scraped the surface in this review. This is a perfect example of how to start a series on the right foot. Do yourself a favor (and the talented team working on this book) and pick it up. You won't regret it.

Wayward continues with an incredibly strong second outing that is vivid and eye-catching. Don't miss this one.

Wayward shows no signs of slowing down and is making it's way towards my favorite book of the year.

Overall, this issue is fun, but doesn't feel like it really went anywhere. This won't be a problem when read in trade format, but when the next issue is still three months away it leaves me a little disappointed.

Overall, this issue is a blazer. It's fiery and explosive. It takes no prisoners, and doesn't slow down, whether you like it or not. All you can do is go along for the ride.

Basically, in the simplest terms, READ THIS BOOK.

Wayward has yet to slow down with seven excellent back to back issues. This is a story that could go down as one of the best if it keeps this consistency up.

Take a breather from all the violence and action, regroup, and get ready for what comes next in this issue of Wayward.

I've been championing Wayward since issue #1 and my mind hasn't been swayed an inch. Zub, Cummings, Bonvillain, Dillon are producing top of the line work and Zack Davisson's excellent essays continue to provide education and interesting topics related to the comic.

All in all, Wayward ends it's second arc on a strong note. The ending is surprising for both good and bad, but allows Wayward to expand it's sandbox creating more space for these talented creators to explore.

This is a must-read if you’re reading Captain America, but everyone should read it because it’s just plain fun.

This is already a comic I want to read every Halloween.
