With Batgirl #6 Tate Brombal steers the ship to a blockbuster conclusion for its first arc. Make no mistake, this is by no means the end of the story. After a dynamic and beautifully rendered fight with Kalden and the Unburied, this month's issue leaves on a potentially heartbreaking loss which will fuel the story for months to come. Quite possibly one of the most raw, emotional, and fascinating Cassandra Cain stories- or Batman stories- ever written. Read Full Review
This series has surprised me from the start, as it's really called back to some comics that are beloved by the fans but rarely acknowledged by DC. Very excited to see where it goes for act two. Read Full Review
Batgirl #6 delivers everything you could want from a Cassandra Cain storyemotional depth, intense action, and stunning visuals. The relationship between Cass and Lady Shiva remains one of the most fascinating dynamics in the Bat-family, and this issue pushes their conflict to new heights. Read Full Review
Batgirl #6 did not disappoint. The conclusion to the "Mother arc was emotional, action-packed, and it left me wanting more. I know it might be early to say this but if the series continues to maintain this quality, we could be looking at one of the best Batgirl runs ever. This series has been so much fun; it makes me want to go back and read that early 2000s run by Kelley Puckett. Congrats to the whole creative team. You've made me a fan of Cassandra Cain. And with a major, extended plot arc in the rear view, Brombal is free to frame Cass story in a direction thats going to have the opportunity to be something much more interesting. It will remain to be seen if the series IS ble to harness those aspects of Cass that make her such an interesting character, though. As it is, he IS casting her in a light that continues to be really, really appealing. Its just a matter of throwing her into a confolcit that feels a bit more interesting than that which she might manage with her mother. Read Full Review
this has one of the series that is a pleasant surprise from DC Comics
Cassandra Cain is not a character that I’ve followed closely over the years. Batgirl #6 appears to require a deeper understanding of her history and tutelage under the Batman. The strongest aspect of this issue is the relationship between Cassandra and Shiva. There’s some deep stuff there that plays well, definitely stronger than the Unburied. The end of this issue feels a bit like it’s taking place out of continuity, or it’s just simply misdirection that doesn’t really work in today’s comics. Next issue promises a history of Lady Shiva and that in itself is tantalizing. Can this team bring it all together? We’ll have to see.
I wish for a better story. Art is fine.
