Batgirls Steph and Cass were taken off guard when they were captured by some unexpected but familiar visitors in the 2022 Annual and now it’s time for them to take the power back and do their own confronting! But sometimes it’s easier to kick butt than it is to talk about feelings, especially when those feelings hit close to home. Lady Shiva and Cluemaster seem to want to make amends with their daughters but if the girls know anything, it’s that nothing is ever what it seems!

Batgirls has always been one of the most fun books in DC's current stable, but this issue might be the best of the entire run. Read Full Review

    COMICON - Scott Redmond Dec 16, 2022

Month after month ‘Batgirls' continues to be one of the best series that DC Comics is putting on the shelves because of deep heartfelt relatable character moments, engaging plotlines, and just an overwhelmingly fun energy. Every artist brings their A-game to this series, finding ways to keep it serious but fun and always engagingly gorgeous to behold. Read Full Review

You Don't Read Comics - Russ Bickerstaff Dec 15, 2022

Case continues next issue. With a bit more of a handle on things, itll be interesting to see how he manages with the first issue in his rearview. Its going to take some getting accustomed to a new artist, but Conrad and Cloonan have built up such impressive momentum so far that its hard to imagine the next few issues being anything other than a great deal of fun. This arc is going to be spectacular. We have had so many surprise guests already, and we're barely 2 issues in. Batgirls #13 sets the next few issues up amazingly. Babs is figuring out how to get the girls back into their bodies while Steph and Cass deal with the parents from hell. What more shenanigans could you want? I can't wait for the next issue! Get Your Comic On - Neil Vagg Dec 13, 2022

I've consistently said that Batgirls is one of my favourite books of 2022 and this final issue has only cemented that further. The Vice Versa arc may only be two issues old but is already proving the versatility of the creative team. I predict even bigger things in 2023 for the Batgirls! Read Full Review

DC Comics News - Matthew Lloyd Dec 13, 2022

Character driven comics will never go out of style. They may not always get the headlines or the hype, but they are substantially better on the whole. There's just more to enjoy, and Batgirls #13 gives the reader a lot to chew on and think about. Some comics are better when you think about them and let them sink in, others deteriorate as soon as you start thinking on a deeper level. Batgirls, is of course, the former, a series that is ultimately about people and relationships and gets better as it sinks in. Read Full Review

The Batman Universe - Ian Miller Dec 14, 2022

This story raises the stakes for Steph and Cass well and gives Steph and Babs some really solid adventures - fighting for the former, detecting for the latter, and deploys its guest stars brilliantly, especially when rendered by new guest artist Jonathan Case in his moody, elegant style. With a great dynamic between the two leads and some terrific art, Batgirls #13 continues the series trend of being an enjoyable ride, with just a few minor bumps in the road. Read Full Review

Weird Science - Gabe Hernandez Dec 13, 2022

Batgirls #13 wraps up the body swap adventure by waiting for the spell to wear off. You get the impression Cloonan and Conrad are throwing in goofy developments to pad space and bide time while DC figures out if the title will continue after issue #15. In effect, this title is quickly devolving into a timewaster. Read Full Review

    Batman-News - Matina Newsom Dec 13, 2022

Once again I feel like Batgirls has fallen into the trap of trying to do a little too much. From it's attempts at utilizing the well worn trope of body swapping to trying to build up some conflict between the Batgirls and their parents it really misses the mark in all the ways that count. There is no real feeling of Steph or Cass living a real day as the other, or tension between them and their respective parents because they're technically not even there for the important conversations. This really should have been separate arcs: one focused on the girls empathizing with each other, and one for their conflict with their parents. Read Full Review

The basic idea is sound, but splitting the party isn't doing this book any favors — in particular, Babs's story seems like filler that's there for no other reason than to give her something to do. Jonathan Case has a nice Allred-like style, but his storytelling is hit and miss. Still, it's better than that mess of a cover. In the end, it's hard not to conclude that Cloonrad's Batgirls are more fun together than they are solo

I am conflicted about this issue. It had a great premise set up in the annual - Steph and Cass switch bodies due to a magic coin coin and their parents kidnap them.

But I feel the idea was wasted. On the one hand Lady Shiva figured out the switch, so points for not dragging out the idea. That is so old. But we really don’t see a satisfying payoff with the idea either. I really don’t get anymore idea of how Shiva feels about Cass.

Cluemaster only reveals he’s been dead for three days but somehow revived. We also see he has a Kurgan scar on his throat. (See movie Highlander for that reference. Any story that makes me think of Highlander has its pluses.) is Cluemaster a Zombie or a Highlander?
