Batman Beyond #48 made me realize how much I'm going to miss this title. With the series nearing the end, Dan Jurgens has thrown the series into high gear and presented us with the dream pairing of the present-day Batman and the Batman of the future. When it comes to fan service, Jurgens know just what will thrill his audience the most. Read Full Review
This issue was part one of the "Concealed by Yesterday" arc that will hopefully have some memorable moments as Terry McGinnis gets to interact with the legends he's only read about or met in old age. I doubt any long-term effects to the DC Universe come here, but I'm curious to see if I"m wrong. Read Full Review
A big battle erupts. This is all part of a bigger plot. Booster Gold shows up and he is somewhat responsible for Bruce Wayne's current demeanor. Can anything be done? The rest of the issue is quite exciting as Terry tries to get his bearings and figure out what exactly is going on.The story by Jurgens hooked me right away. He has done a great job making this book entertaining and interesting. Pelletier isn't my favorite artist but he does a capable job here. Read Full Review
This was a surprisingly well-done time travel arc featuring Booster Gold. Read Full Review
The plot moves so fast it's a bit dizzying, but I think Batman Beyond is headed for a strong finish. Read Full Review
You've been getting a bunch of Booster Gold in the past two years and if you've dug that... Well, stop. This is how Booster Gold is supposed to be so get to know the greatest hero you've never heard of in this arc of Batman Beyond that takes you into this story at the speed of light, turns of the stakes immediately, but never forgets to have fun along the way. If that wasn't enough to get you interested, the art is amazing too. Read Full Review
Batman Beyond #48 is a fast paced, throwback feeling comic book that embraces the medium's ability to go over the top. While it's questionable for Jurgens to jettison most of the supporting cast in favor of a time travel story with Booster Gold, this set up is ripe for deep characterization for both Bruce and Terry. If this is to be the last arc of Jurgens' run, it's not a bad idea to go for a more sentimental storyline. On its own, Batman Beyond #48 is solid across the board though its true value is in potentially setting up more profound moments in the coming months. Read Full Review
Batman Beyond #48 introduces a lot of different conflict points, and things for readers to consider from the first few pages. When you couple it with the time travel curveballs at the end, we're left with a satisfying tale that leaves us, as ever, eager for more. Read Full Review
The dialogue is noticeably clunky this issue, especially when Terry is interacting with Booster and Skeets, but it has the bones of what would have made a good Batman Beyond or Justice League Unlimited episode. Read Full Review
I've always felt so-so toward Batman Beyond, so this is my first issue. I decided to check it out because it's his first encounter with the original in regular continuity. I'm not much of a Booster Gold fan, because all the stories I read with him are usually bland and repetitive. And it looks like this isn't going to be much different. Still, I do look forward to seeing if they meet face-to-face or if Booster can prevent it. But I still doubt I'll stick with this one after the conclusion.
"... But there is just no way i can let that happen ! Force field. A superhero's best friend... Next to a power ring, golden lasso, or trident of neptune, of course. Can you believe i referenced Aquaman ?"
