  This was a really fun series, more enjoyable than Adventures of the Super Sons, my only problem with it is how convoluted it kind of becomes because of the rule/non-rule(?) of the scroll.

  I mean... this was fine. I won't miss it. The tease at the end for even more Super Sons just makes me groan.

  I've read every Super Sons comic and I can say that I would be completely fine if we got less of both Super Sons and Bendis. It doesn't have to be one or the other.

  I'm sorry if I'm not keen on D-list stories being bolstered by two characters that fans like being paired together. One of which, it has been made abundantly clear, has no character beyond being tike goody-good Superman and has therefore struggled immensely to gain traction as an older character.

  The concept arguably worked within the framework of Tomasi and Gleason's Superman run, not as its own thing. Releasing it digitally in these short chapters also hasn't helped because the pacing has become abysmal. I feel like even if Tomasi wanted to grow these characters or give them something beyond the basics, he'd need more space.

  You have a weird reality you live in where we're supposed to judge the character of Jon based on Bendis aging him up and ruining him lol Maybe hold off on judging adult Jon too until Tom Taylor likely hits it out of the park with him. But, back to the actual Jon character in this book... That's what makes Jon so good. He's Superman's son and a perfect contrast to Damian. Damian is angry, cynical, and thinks he's better than everyone. Jon is the opposite.

  So, of course a character that skips any character development by time skipping is going to be bad. In fact you can almost full stop at any character being written by Bendis being bad. That's honestly the whole reason it didn't work. He just needed a Superboy on the Legion, so he basically morphed someone else's work and didn't bother spending any actual time on making it a more natural transition. They're honestly different characters in my mind.

  I think they're the same character, and that Jon is bland no matter his age. It's perfectly fine to judge the older version of the character even if Bendis wrote him (because... PKJ writes him too, and he had his own books during future state). This younger version is just as much of a nothing character as the older version, it's just that he doesn't need to be anything more in these bland stories.

  Maybe Tom Taylor comes in and makes Jon a real boy, but that doesn't make him retroactively good here and elsewhere. I do not get the appeal of these comics, especially this one with its unnecessarily complicated structure and boring, boring plot. I feel like everytime we get one of these, Tomasi is just dusting off rejected Superman/Batman scripts and slightly tweaking them.
