A VAMPIRE, A WEREWOLF, A GORGON, AND AN UNDEAD SOLDIER WALK INTO A GROCERY STORE...AND ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE! This is the Creature Unit, a team of misfits assembled by a mad...ly talented scientist for a dangerous military mission. In this brand-new era of Creature Commandos penned by Count Crowley creator David Dastmalchian (The Suicide Squad and Late Night with the Devil), the claws are out, fangs are bared, and blood is spilled--lots of it!

DC Horror Presents Creature Commandos #1 is an emotionally chaotic ride from start to finish. There are breaths for the story to unfold and action when needed, making this issue a must-grab for New Comic Book Day! Read Full Review

    AIPT - Collier Jennings Oct 2, 2024

DC Horror Presents: Creature Commandos #1 is the right kind of synergy between comic and (upcoming) adaptation: its timing is perfect especially since October is Halloween and it manages to stand apart from the upcoming series while still presenting the core concept in a way that'll draw in new fans. The new DC Horror brand mostly seems to give this book a little more violence and some nastier language, but it doesn't seem to have the unique vibe of most Black Label books. Overall, promising start, but not a breakout yet. Read Full Review

Those hoping for a sneak peek of the new DCU will be disappointed by Creature Commandos. Fans of good horror comics, however, will easily be able to sink their teeth into this book. Read Full Review

This book is mediocre at best. It's completely forgettable. The writer doesn't take any steps to make this a memorable outing in comic world. It's a ho-hum, we've seen this all before story that's told as static as they come. Start out with a cold open and then introduce one character at time in a backstory, instead of letting the audience learn about them during the action scenes to keep the cold open going and interesting. One-and-done for me, let's hope Jame Gunn can do a better job with the Monster Squad.
