The third edition of this morbid disquisition concerning the attrition/detrition of the human condition, which, in the weekly tradition, boasts a four-color exhibition on some printer’s emission. Here, by order of an anonymous optician, watch closely this vision of our titular apparition (armed, you’ll remember, with fresh erudition)try and survive—by another’s volition—a dire and dangerous mission through the hissin’, Stygian conditions of putrid and pockmarked Perdition—a kind of new rendition (depicted as a living, breathing country-sized conniption), which is rich in its list of sick compositions: e.g., reason’s egregious abolition; a more

Deadman #3 is incredible and a visually stunning masterpiece. Poor Boston and Bobby may have bitten off more than they can chew by diving into Hell, and this issue deserves every ounce of praise. I cannot get enough of this run! Read Full Review

This series has easily been the closest the creative team has gotten to going Full Ice Cream Man on us, but it never quite got there. It is a mainstream DC book, after all. Well, I suppose they were just warming up, because this issue is quite possibly the strangest book ever put out by DC since the heyday of Vertigo, and I mean that in the best way possible. The Deadman #3 was the best issue thus far in a very good series. Writer W. Maxwell Prince took us on a road trip down the seven rings of Hell, presenting his take on the Divine Comedy, where Biston Brand had to meet Lucifer themselves. Prince, artist Martin Morazzo, and colorist Chris O’Holloran give us a diverse look at Hell and all of its rings in a very successful take. No ring looks or feels the same, and it offers insight into how spirituality and the afterlife work in the DC universe. DC is always at its best when they take unconventional shots at different genres and topics, and The Deadman #3 is the best example of that. Read Full Review

You’re likely not to find a more artistically driven comic from the Big Two these days, and the creative team knocks it out of the park in that regard. Read Full Review

The Deadman as a series still has a lot to say on a metaphysical level beyond mere body horror or gore, and is focused a lot on Boston’s contemplation of his situation, not in an obsessive way. I think the outcome of this arc could go a lot of ways, and will definitely involve some kind of temptation for Boston. I’m excited to see what the next issue brings! Read Full Review

Boston Brand goes to Hell and it’s not a great vacation. Prince his great strides with putting the hero through extreme difficulties. Morazzo & O'Halloran dazzle with expressive images. “The Deadman” is a series that doesn’t play by anyone else’s rules. Read Full Review

The Deadman #3 delivers another imaginative chapter filled with striking visuals, clever dialogue, and fascinating mythology. While the script demands patience thanks to its dense writing and literary flourishes, the chemistry between Deadman, Bobby, and Lucy keeps the journey entertaining and makes the series' supernatural world even more compelling.
