    SciFiPulse - Ian Cullen Jun 23, 2025

This is a fun second part that builds nicely on the story's initial setup. I really enjoyed the banter between Batman and Penguinso much so that I could almost hear their voices in my head. The torture scenes, where we see Bullock having his fingernails pulled out, effectively convey the brutality without going overboardsomething that would have been easy to do. Overall, this issue is pretty solid, and I'm eager to see how things unfold in the next installment, especially after that strong cliffhanger. Read Full Review

Geek Dad - Ray Goldfield Jun 18, 2025

The issue is overall a lot of fun, although it's 90% action and moves very fast. What makes it work is the trio of oil-and-water personalities who dominate it and the story isn't done yet, with a tense cliffhanger. I'm wondering if the themes of immortality that have dominated this run so far are leading to pulling in the DCU's most famous immortal supervillain who has obviously tangled with Batman many times before. The mystery of Elixir causes an unlikely trio in the process. Taylors writing escalates the conflicts at hand. Garbett and Loughridge bring out the best between all parties with the art. If the last page is any indication, readers are in for a treat with this story. Read Full Review

Comic Book Revolution - Kevin Lainez Jun 20, 2025

Detective Comics #1098 really hammers home the level of consistency Tom Taylor is already having with his creative run on this series. Taylor just knows how to write a character focus story. Most importantly, his writing lives up to the first word in this title as the detective aspect of Batman. Read Full Review

    Batman-News - Aaron Ray Jr. Jun 18, 2025

Part two of the Elixir storyline is just okay. Narratively, Batman simply looks for someone, finds them, and waits for a counter attack. Also, Batman babysitting Penguin is a little funny here and there, but it is ultimately a pointless addition. The overarching plot following the Elixir mystery inches along, but doesn't meaningfully advance. For an action heavy issue, not much stands out artistically. Which isn't to call it bad, but an honestly uneventful chapter in what could be a better story as things continue. Read Full Review
