The conclusion to Mark Waid's first arc on the Flash hits exceptionally hard. It's not the most original story in the world, but the emotions are so raw and real that I couldn't care less. This is what makes Flash interesting. The powers, you can take or leave it. It's the character work that makes this character shine.
