Geeked Out Nation - Draven Katayama (loudlysilent) Aug 13, 2015

This feels like one of the most balanced and cohesive issues of Gotham Academyyet: the pace moves along nicely, multiple cast members share fun dialogue, and the story has the right mix of serious and lighthearted. Olive continues to intrigue us as she teases out the secrets surrounding her mom. Cloonan and Fletcher create an engaging mystery that readers of all ages can enjoy. Every panel by Kerschl, LaPointe, and Msassyk is a visual treat. Read Full Review

Gotham Academy is the book that keeps on giving. This was a book I had previously written off for trade waiting, but I dont think I can ever get enough at this point. Gotham Academy takes pieces of Gotham City and brings them into new light and new mysteries, and the characters in this story are nothing short of magical. Dont wait any longer to start reading this fantastic book. Read Full Review

Graphic Policy - Edward Wendt Aug 12, 2015

The outlook of the series might have changed a little bit with this issue, but the quality has not. Especially as this seems to be somewhat of the end state for this first overall story arc of the series, a lot of different approaches could have been taken to get here, but none would have created such a sizable depth of characterizations for those only ten issues into their publication histories. As it stands, this remains one of the best series on offer from DC, even if its initial aura of mystery is replaced by something else. Read Full Review

    Comicsverse - Brian Delpozo Aug 19, 2015

GOTHAM ACADEMY continues to be my favorite all-around monthly comic right now, and #9 is another home run from the creative team of Cloonan, Fletcher, and Kerschl. As cliche as it is to say, if you're going to buy one comic book this month I recommend this should be it. Read Full Review

I'm a bit sad it's taken this long for Gotham Academy to get certain plot elements to the forefront and there's still something slightly off about pacing and story structure but in all a good read. Keep supporting this. Read Full Review

This issue is the start of uncovering some of the mysteries surrounding one of our major characters, but at the same time has aconcurrentstory that features all the characters and their charming personalities. We have all creative forces at the top of their game that is leaving me wanting more of this story. This is one of the best issues of the series yet. Read Full Review

Black Nerd Problems - Jordan Calhoun Aug 13, 2015

Nine issues into the series and Gotham Academy still has unsolved mysteries that began in the first, which is a well-crafted long game given that the story progresses just fast enough to keep readers interested. Would readers stick around for love of the characters? Probably, but striking a good balance between character-driven comedy and plot-driven mystery is what separates Gotham Academy as a really great book. Read Full Review

Gotham Academy#9 has a wonderful balance of haunting painted art and expressive cartooning from artist Karl Kerschl along with a symbolically powerful eerie blue and fire red palette from Serge Lapointe and Msassyk. This artwork complements writers Becky Cloonan and Brenden Fletcher's nimble use of their diverse cast of characters along with the monster action and foreboding mysteries revealed along the way. We The Nerdy - Jack Johnston Aug 13, 2015

Gotham Academy #9 is a fantastic continuation of what is already a great series. It has its awkwardmoments, although they are smoothed outa good bit compared toprevious issues, and I'd try to push it on anyone that enjoys your standard highschool drama romp. My main problemis thatthroughout this run, Olive doesn't have an outstanding personality to call her own and I think that she could benefit from an experience like issue 7 to flesh her out for the readers. I look forward to seeing how the story will go in the future and hope that those bronze-age style covers #5 and #6 had will make a glorious come-back for the end of this arc as well. The Fandom Post - Chris Beveridge Aug 13, 2015

Gotham Academy nudges things along in some good ways here while offering some creepy teases in the woods that hints at greater discoveries ahead. Hopefully in the next issue in fact. For me, what makes this issue succeed more than the story itself is seeing the way the kids are operating together after starting out in such opposite corners from each other outside of Maps and Olive. Batman-News - Brandon Mulholand Aug 13, 2015

While this wasn't my favorite issue of Gotham Academy, the strong points of the story manage to overcome the problem areas enough that it was still a worthwhile read. In the greater scheme of things, I didn't get the sense that this particular issue was all that detrimental, but it was a necessary stepping stone to progress the story. Even though I was a little critical of this specific chapter, on the whole, Gotham Academy is a highly entertaining book and always near the top of my “need to read” stack. Read Full Review

Comic Crusaders - Dawn of Comics Aug 16, 2015

This book is very Scooby Doo'ish. School kids hunting monsters. It looks like the main girl has some powers or maybe will have them soon. The books had good pacing and kept me interested. Can't fault it for what it is. The art is great and the story was really well written. Read Full Review
