What are dark, red, and not safe for anyone? The streets of Gotham as the battle of The Jokers begins. The good news for the people of Gotham is that someone is going to finally put an end to The Joker's reign of terror. The bad news is that person will also be The Joker!

More and more, it's obvious The Joker: The Man Who Stopped Laughingwill be a great story in the collected format. Each issue offers something a little different while hammering home the chaos and silly fun Joker can bring. The backups continue to find new ways of telling the two-Joker story while the main story edges closer to answers. While my patience is thin on this series, my anticipation grows stronger. I won't lie, I'm absolutely chomping at the bit. Maybe some have figured this maze out but I'm sitting back in a state of complete impatience. Three issues have been specifically building to the meeting I really thought we were getting in Joker: The Man Who Stopped Laughing #10. While I enjoy the pins and needles give a girl a break! Given the switch up of the side story and all the Eureka moments, I look forward to seeing issue #11 and what conclusions or future threads it holds. Read Full Review

The Joker: The Man Who Stopped Laughing #10 is another worthy addition to the series, though it stumbles a tad with the heroes' side of the equation as it feels like there simply isn't much for them to do here. Ultimately though, this latest story focusing on the Harlequin of Hate is a compelling read and weaves a tale worthy of the Joker. Read Full Review

However, if we discover that this other Joker happens to be something silly, trivial, pointless, or basically just dies in the end, were all gonna be a bit upset for investing all this time into a comic that amounts to frivolity. There is nothing more frustrating than spending over $50 in todo for a series that amounts to absolutely nothing. No needle moment whatsoever. Hopefully, that is not the case here. However, with two issues of The Joker: The Man Who Stopped Laughing left, its beginning to start to look like that. I sincerely hope Im wrong. Let me know what you think, have a great week, and God Bless! Read Full Review

Then, Francesco Francavilla takes over on art to illustrate the origin of the false Joker, and while it looks great as it always does, it's not exactly a huge revealjust another example of Joker being too crazy by half and ultimately being his own worst enemy. Read Full Review

While the momentum has stalled, the book is still entertaining enough to stay with it for these final two issues. Read Full Review

There isn't too much to say on this issue, other than it almost directly mirrors the events taking place in the main title. Clearly, two Jokers are too much for even the Joker to handle, and he solves this problem the same way he solves all his other problems: a bullet to the face. One pleasant surprise with this side story was that it was so much more normal and less disturbing than others before it, so I give it props for that! Read Full Review

Weird Science - Jim Werner Sep 9, 2023

Joker: The Man Who Stopped Laughing #10 is a waste of both time and money. The lack of story progression has killed the intrigue this series promised and I don't see Mathew Rosenberg suddenly righting the ship in the two remaining issues. I'm not surprised this series was cancelled, just that it took this long. Read Full Review

I really couldn't recommend slogging through these issues despite the decent art. I've had to catch up and the fact that I was over with it by the end of three days of intense reading was honestly a sweet relief compared to anyone following it every month with the faintest hope that the story won't just keep meandering along its asinine plot. Is it the worst thing I've ever read for Batman News? Absolutely not. But it's the terrible way this comic decided to use Joker and other Joker that stands out for me. I don't read many comics compared to my fellow reviewers but this already gave me serious Joker Fatigue Read Full Review

I liked the fact that this actually tied the backup story to the main plot, something we have yet to see from this series. As this series is winding down to its final two issues, I'm hoping we finally get the two Jokers at least confronting each other in the next issue. As much as I've enjoyed the series as a whole up until this point, I do feel as though it's taken a while to get more into the initial story it was telling.
