This issue is solid, it is a great read with lots of action, cool enemies, and a lot of reveals all crammed into a small 22 pages of comic! Read Full Review
This is the most well written story in all of Rebirth. It's action packed and yet poetic. You can feel the strength and mythology behind Chinese culture, and it plays into a really wonderful epic that I can't get enough of. There's not a single thing I would change about this issue, it's absolutely perfect for me. The style, the art, the plot, the flow, all just perfect. Read Full Review
Whew ... that's a lot of story! And a lot of fun! And great action! And I learned some Chinese culture to boot! I hope this book continues along. It really is a great Rebirth book. Read Full Review
I'm really enjoying how Gene Luen Yang is deepening the metaphysical elements of the characters while tying them into Chinese mythology, much like most western superheroes are tied to a western mythology (think Wonder Woman/Princess Diana and the ancient Greek gods). New Super-Man remains a great read, and somehow gets even better each month. Read Full Review
"New Super-Man" #12 is sophisticated storytelling that succeeds on multiple levels with outstanding contributions from the entire creative team. Even if you're new to the series, you will love this essentially self-contained issue. Just buy it and enjoy. Read Full Review
Kenan confronts his boss, and it doesn't go well...for her! Also, Superman Zero becomes a Chinese warrior. Wonder-Woman turns into a giant snake! I normally don't spoil the books here but this is one you've just gotta read! Read Full Review
Despite one particularly gruesome image, this issue combined sophisticated storytelling, imaginative artwork, and satisfying surprises in a well crafted tale. Read Full Review
This is another strong outing for the series. Kong's rivalry with Super-Man Zero begins here and I'm excited to see how their relationship develops. Tan's art was great, as usual, and the cliffhanger should entice some more readers to finally hop into the book. Read Full Review
Billy Tan is the saving grace of this issue, his artwork is amazing as usual. I have had an appreciation of Billy Tan's penciling since his work at Image Comics way back in 1996. The other thing that was pretty cool with the New Superman book is the way they portray some of our favorite DC heroes. They're Asian counter parts worked great and were designed really well, the Batman and Robin were really awesome. Read Full Review
With every issue I become more and more certain that Yang is actually not a real person but some extra intelligent AI created for only writing this book. This is one of the best books going on right now. I am really hoping it doesn't get cancelled anytime soon.
