But aside from those nitpicks, this was a welcome return to form for one of IDW's best titles. Not only were there a lot of great plot threads all going on at once, but they all ended on tremendous cliffhangers"and Baxter Stockman got punched in the face by Krang, which was pretty awesome. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fans are living in a golden age for the franchise as issue #43 is a rock solid chapter with a huge amount of action, especially considering it is a mid-arc issue. This book is a lot of fun and if you're nostalgia draws you toward the Turtles at all, I highly recommend you give this series a shot. Read Full Review

So obviously this issue, with all its chaos, is awesome! So many stories coming together with the brilliance of our writers. This issue only reinforces everything I already knew about TMNT from IDW; it totally rocks. Read Full Review

A number of small criticisms aside, TMNT #43 is yet another great issue in a surprisingly strong and consistently entertaining series. This latest arc has found an effective way to incorporate so many different characters and the end result is an adventure that has me completely hooked. I'm left wanting to read the next issue right away and, as I read the issues, I'm reminded why I love this franchise so much. Since the very first issue, it's been crystal clear this team loves the franchise and they're doing excellent things with it. I'm really looking forward to the next issue and even if the plot doesn't totally win me over, at least I know I can rely on Smith and Pattison to make sure it's a great experience for my eyes. TMNT fans, support what you love and buy this series. It's absolutely worth your time and attention. Read Full Review

The only ones not thrown into action are Alopex (who sadly doesn't appear in the issue) and Donatello who is likely going to face the wrath of Shredder next month as, after discovering the betrayal, the leader of The Foot orders Rocksteady and Bebop to kill the Turtle. Gulp. Worth a look. Read Full Review

Comics: The Gathering - louis whiteford Feb 25, 2015

Still, for all the problems this comic has with hefty plot distribution, the plots in question are still enticing, and every one of them could easily be fleshed out into greater detail. Only the Mutanimals and Splinter receive what feels like amply page space, and maybe I’d feel displeased if those weren’t my favorite characters in this thing. The TMNT themselves are barely in it, but let’s face it, the bad guys are way more interesting and they’ve got all the cool plans. It’s a good comic, it leaves you hungry for more, and give the reader more than enough to ponder. Read Full Review

Waltz and Co. have proved more than capable of hitting one over the fence, but this story would do well in coming a bit closer to home. Read Full Review

    GWW - Cory Anderson Feb 24, 2015

With all the fighting going on, I kept hoping and expecting things to go ultimately well for the turtles. Though this time things have wandered into unknown terrain for them, as everything they had planned goes horribly wrong. They are not the only ones who are experiencing less than desired results as Krang and Shredder are in an intense fight to end it all. The only group that sees some form of success are the mutanimals with Splinter aiding in their raid to steal back all the mutagen so there will be no more experiments. The end of this issues leaves us with the technodrome activating and sending a terraforming beam into the skies, which is a metaphor for how well the fight is going for everyone but Krang. Weekly Comic Book Review - Minhquan Nguyen Mar 5, 2015

Much as I really, really like this series, I can't deny that it's not the most challenging of comics. Nor does it have to be; pure entertainment is as rare and precious as the most conceptually ambitious of stories, and as long as the plot's solidly constructed, there's no reason why you can't enjoy something that requires close to no brainpower whatsoever. Believe me, in my law school days, I didn't go home and pick up James Joyce's Ulysses; after a grueling final, the latest issue of TMNT was sometimes the welcomest sight I could see. The action is intense and all the plot lines are juggled concisely and in a very intelligent fashion. With great artwork on top of that, TMNT is still one of the best comics on the shelf.

There's a ton of good characters in this comic and the fact that they can all be balanced out so well within these pages is a huge strength this writer has. This is comic books at its finest (for what it is...just pure fun). The art is so damn good ! Ever page flows and is worthy of a long pause. Perfection for the Turtles!
