Nerd Initiative - Richard Coryell
Oct 09, 2025Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #12 sticks the landing on this final issue, in an era of final issues, and shows finishing on less than great endings. The issue is jam packed with action and heart just like this entire run has been built on. At the same time this book was a fitting end to the Aaron/Ferreyra run, it also serves as a great leaping off point for the next era, with in my opinion the biggest surprise final page of the year. Good issue and I've enjoyed Aaron's run but it's disappointing that all he basically did was create inner family turmoil (that lasted far too long in my opinion) to just fix things back to where they were and leave.

Definitely a stronger first half in this 12 issue run, by Jason Aaron, who I think got repetitive and wonky especially with the court room drama and conclusion. The arts what really caught me by surprise, not my typical cup of tea but Juan Ferreyra carried the story for me. Very dynamic and entertaining to gaze upon.
