"MY LITTLE POLTERGEIST"
Another sullen, sequential short! Here, a little girl's best friend comes back from the dead. Or does she? It's hard to say, ghosts being an unreliable sort.
ConclusionIce Cream Man dives into the psyche and nestles there deeply. It is a warm and sinister feeling when enjoying the series and watching all the wicked unfold. Full of twists and turns and never fully knowing just what is next is something that makes this series unique and a delight. It gets a full recommendation from me on every level possible to give one. It says a lot about just how brilliant this series has been that even though I felt this issue was a bit of a step back, it easily matches or eclipses the effort most creators can muster on their best day. While a couple of key plot elements are starting to get repetitive, Prince and Morazzo are still managing to pull out new concepts from their well of ideas and deliver twists on previously explored angles. There's a bit less hopelessness and misery, but it doesn't impact how essential this series should continue to be for every collector's pull list. Read Full Review
It's another impressive issue perfectly sized for a single issue. Read Full Review
The Ice Cream Man rollercoaster takes another turn down. This time the horror element feels shoehorned in, and the story would have been better without it. Read Full Review
A little bit more explanation of the title character and the cowboy, with some heartbreaking moments as well. Read Full Review
I hate that I was not impressed with this month’s issue of Ice Cream Man but I know that this isn’t the norm. This issue’s storytelling and dialogue definitely felt forced which caused the issue as a whole to suffer. The style is still there and it can still be enjoyed, especially if you have been reading the series up until this point. But this seventh issue won’t have the same effect on you which is quite disappointing. Read Full Review
Amazing.
Perfection.
The return to form, begun last issue, continues. The over-arching narrative is once again engaged with, and the individual story is very well told.
Going through and re reading the series. Must have forgot to rate this back then. I actually like this one a lot. Probably one of the top three of the first ten issues.
