Though it doesn't quite manage to hit the true potential of its premise, NextGen is making a simple drama fit remarkably well onto the comic book page. Like so much of the rest of the best of the Age of X-Man event, the fourth issue of NextGen is bringing a distinctively moody kind of mutant drama to a mainstream comics page much more accustomed to far more aggressive physical action. It's been a fascinating experiment thus far. NextGen continues to find some success with the venture. Read Full Review
Overall this book is the only one to really have anything happen and have an impact on the over arcing story. Ramifications from the end of this issue should be felt in each of the mini-series. NextGen continues to be the highlight of the "Age of X-Man" line by concerning itself less with the high concept itself and more with how the characters in this world manage to live in it. Read Full Review
Getting better with each edition can't understand the reviews
Anole pushes his sect's agenda to a scary result, with his school friends just a little too far behind him and the authorities bringing up the rear. Interesting ideas, solid art, and an excellent pace. Yet somehow the prose, while clear, fails to evoke an emotional connection or a sense of urgency -- and the latter particularly seems needed.
Still pretty good! Not so keen on the pointless infighting but what can you do.
Pretty good issue. If you like seeing these characters interact, you'll like this issue.
THE GOOD:
-I enjoyed the opening scene a lot.
-The art here is great.
-Anole is still a really interesting character here.
-The ending was really good. I'm excited to see how this all pans out.
THE BAD:
-I don't know, something felt off about this issue. Like it wasn't reaching its full potential.
-This issue really bored me, and I can't figure out why.
