AMAZING SPIDER-MAN: RENEW YOUR VOWS #16 takes another big step forward in the lives of the Parker family. Though it's a little slow, it is, overall, a very enjoyable read. Read Full Review
Honestly, Renew Your Vows is the best Spider-Book on the stands today; it captures everything that makes Spider-Man great while continuing to push the character forward. Read Full Review
The Amazing Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows #16 continues to entertain and still has a great story to tell. I can't wait to see Annie in action next issue and how she will handle the consequences of her end-of-issue split decision. Read Full Review
While Renew Your Vows #16 is decently entertaining, it doesn't deploy the sort of amazingly sympathetic "fall in love" hooks this title used to deliver regularly. It shows retrospectively how much effort the original creative team invested in this series. Renew Your Vows can coast for a bit longer on the considerable goodwill racked up in its first year, but this story arc needs to drill deeper if it's going to hold readers' attention. The Amazing Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows #16 touches upon some classic Spider-Man themes, but still struggles to find its own voice in the mix. Read Full Review
I'm glad to have Stockman back on pencils for this title and I think he's a great fit for the story given here. Houser has the character voices down, especially the internal dialogues for Peter and Annie, but the plot is too thin. I'll still be picking this title up, as I love the family dynamic, but I hope we get more plot than your typical television family dramedies. Read Full Review
An intriguing start to a new arc.
Annie's school year starts with classmate supervillainy and the unwelcome surprise that her dad has taken a teaching position at her school. The script retains the surprisingly strong grip on Annie's point of view revealed in the last issue. MJ doesn't get much of a chance to shine; circumstances force her into sitcom-mom-ery. I love the super-subtle insight buried in Peter's monologuing, though: Peter Parker is an attachment parent because his parents died when he was super-young. That makes all the sense. This plot is packed with potential. Though the art tends toward cartoony caricature, it's also terrific at expressing emotion.
What a suprise, this was so much better than the previous last issues. It was fun and the art seemed to fit quite well. Hopefully it stays this way.
After seen Mr S. at the end of the last issue I hoped to see this ongoing doing more interesting story.
That's is not what I read. The part about Parker loosing his job & becoming teacher is nice but nor original or great.
And the part about the exploding is disappointing.
So the Parker family keep going with a nice but not great issue. They have to do more for letting a real chance for this ongoing but this is maybe too late. Shame because I like them.
Cover - I like the cover, with some link for the story with the title in the marble. 1.5/2
Writing - Houser don't give a very good face of Peter & May. But she mock the MJ outfit ... So I will give her that ^^ 2/3
Arts - Ok Can we have a better artist, bec more
