Is it wrong to like the alternate world X-Men of Amazing Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows more than the stars of the current X-books? Not when this is the only book that has the real Wolverine, Jean Grey, and Cyclops... even if their dynamic has radically changed. Read Full Review
Densely packed, Amazing Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows #6 continues it more dialogue-heavy approach to story-telling while also trying to slip a few scenes of superhero beatdowns into the mix. While this issue does plenty to set up the next arc in smart ways, it struggles to stand on its own merits. Read Full Review
Annie's adventures with the X-Men wrap up in a fast but thoughtful way. The elder Parkers fight their way through a lot of evil mutants, but pride of place in this story goes to Annie's fascinating conversation with the traitor Jubilee. Little Spiderling has a solid head on her shoulders and an impeccable moral compass, and even if she doesn't attend Xavier's her future looks bright. The issue has strong art throughout but it's the stellar dialogue that really cements its place at the top of the heap.
Renew Your Vows keeps up the great writing with this issue. Oddly enough I'd say the X-Men steal the thunder this issue, with the Spectacluar Spider-Family feeling a bit like guest stars in an Old-school X-title (and I'm not ever sure that's a detriment). The only real criticism I can give this issue is that it should be a bit more difficult to take down these specific villains and it could have benefited from a third issue in the arc. All in all though a very fun issue and I would highly recommend it!
This so much better than the main book currently is. I loved everything with the X-Men, and cannot be more excited about the MJ-Venom.
