In today's world of comics that often get cancelled too arbitrarily or too fast, there's cause to hope that books like Ben Reilly might just find the fanbase it deserves" and maybe even a stay of execution as well. Read Full Review
I actually don't mind if Ben and Kaine are going to be co-leads going forward, but their stories should at least be equally strong. Read Full Review
You won't miss much skipping this issue, as the comic seems to be transitioning out of its last arc onto something new, but there is some fun to be had. (Did I mention the Hippo?). For fans. Read Full Review

Great single story
I take this issue because its a a story in one issue. And that I wanted to go in the Issue link to damnation with some knowledge of the Scarlet Spider new title. So I was very surprised to follow Caine, not Ben. But the fact they are together in the title seem right. And Ben have a little part too, and somewhat related to damnation. So that was cool.
Cover - Ok the cover is nice, but not link to the story. 1/2
Writing - Peter David is a hell of writer. I think he can make me read even a character I despite. 3/3
Arts - Not really great. Not too bad. That's seem a long time for Peter he didn't have a really good artist with him. Remember Gary Frank on Hulk & Supergirl. Or a shinning one as Chriscross on Captain Marvel or more
Ben burns the title's Mysterio connection to kindle a tiny moment of empathy and Kaine executes a flagrantly filler-y fight with the Hippo. The Hippo's nice and goofy and deep-cut-y and all, but his role here could be filled by literally any big bruiser baddie. Art, plot, and dialogue are all trying to skate on the lower bound of "acceptable" and the combination doesn't quite satisfy me. Where it really stands out is in exemplifying a skippable comic.
Completely skipable and did nothing to make me want to continue reading the book, which is disappointing and the previous 13 issues have been pretty solid and entertaining stories for me personally (even if the artist used way too many 3D models).
With this series low sales I’m guessing the last issues will be the damnation tie-ins and maybe one additional issue to wrap it all up, but really we need to get to the conclusion of the main overarching story involving the sick girl so we can move on to something new.
