The bottom line is, I think it's pretty clear this volume of the Black Panther is paced too slowly. But #22 demonstrates that the fault is not all-consuming. These creators can still bring together sharp language, bright ideas, and beautiful art to concoct a fully-satisfying chapter. Still waters run deep -- and strong. Read Full Review
While Black Panther has been meandering around its point for some time now, it has refocused itself in these pages and reset expectations for a showdown between King T'Challa and Emperor N'Jadaka by clarifying what that conflict is really about. Read Full Review
N'Jadaka faces bad news on two fronts. Zenzi and Bast make common cause against him and T'Challa successfully convinces his ancestors to magic back the memories of the empire's slaves. Some excellent art in two distinct styles and the smooth evolution of big plot developments give this issue great power. Admittedly, the overall arc has been far too slow, but this is, in itself, an excellent issue.
" King. You shall call me the King of wakanda. No matter my past, no matter my faults, i am your King. "

Slow as always but it actually works for this issue because of the underlying message. Glad to have Acuna back because El Maestro delivered some pretty great visuals and scenes.
I went in expecting another slog of an issue, but then this issue was a love letter to some of Black Panther's biggest moments, and I enjoyed it.
I feel like I would have gotten more out of this issue if I knew more Black Panther lore and didn’t have to rely on the summaries at the end. That being said, this issue wasn’t a horrifying read, it actually went by pretty painlessly.
T'Challa's test of whatever is actually the least interesting thing going on right now, which is most of what this issue is. It helps to provided the sources for the Black Panther lore references, but when it all comes down to it, this is just T'Challa resisting feeling sorry for himself while everyone else is engaged in epic space battle. Zenzi is by far the most interesting part of the issue and the main reason not to skip this one.
