"FORGED IN BLOOD" begins here! The Carnage symbiote painfully and viciously extracted what it wanted out of Malekith the Accursed - but godhood remains just out of its reach. Wracked with an insatiable lust and longing for power since its communion with Knull, the symbiote is missing only one thing to level untold destruction across the universe: a weapon.

Carnage #9 continues where the story left off in the previous issue with Carnageand Kenneth Neely arriving on Nidavellir for someone in particular. The comic finally reveals just what the Canrage symbiote has in store for its piece of the Venom symbiote codex. Before that reveal, the comic feels a little slow and lacking momentum in the action and dialogue interactions. Hopefully the next issue turns the excitement back up. Read Full Review

At the halfway point, I was thinking this issue was headed in a pretty dumb direction. I'll give the author full credit for swerving and getting interesting. Besides making this a satisfying read, it also makes me optimistic about what he'll do with the various Chekhov's Guns he's put on the mantle.
On the art front, I'd still like to see a little more detail. But what is on the page is still dynamic and expressive, so it's hardly like the visuals are *bad*.
