IT'S ALL COME DOWN TO THIS! CARNAGE WINS!
Rated T+
Extreme Carnage: Omega is a satisfying finish to this summer's best horror-gore event. It's a final issue to a story that understands Symbiotes need to be ultraviolent, but they can also be complex in unique ways. You'll put this book down and realize Johnson and his collaborators have added a great chapter to the Symbiote narrative and Venom was nowhere in sight! Read Full Review
Yeah, that goofy Sony movie might have introduced the mainstream to the Klyntarian's , but for those interested in seeing the symbiote's in real action with heavy stakes while delving into their individual biographies, then "Extreme Carnage" is that book that covers all those bases, making "Omega" the rightful, well done, home run ! Extreme Carnage: Omega #1 is a limp conclusion. The momentum of the entire event has been fluctuating and the speed slows down far too early in the issue. The comic lacks clarity and character definition, throwing as many Symbiotes at a wall as the writers can and seeing which ones stick. And out of nearly ten, probably two achieve this. For fans mindless Symbiote on Symbiote violence, this event may be up your alley. Even then, there are many other storylines that fulfill that with a better plot and characters attached to it. If you still find yourself considering "Extreme Carnage," please know that beyond an encyclopedic knowledge of Marvel's many mediocre symbiotes, there is nothing of value to be found here. Read Full Review
I finished this late but I thought it was a much better story than I expected it to be overall. I enjoyed seeing all the symbiote dish out some carnage throughout the event and set up future storylines.
I rhink it was pretty good. Always like when Sleeper makes an appearance. I do think I would have enjoyed it more with a definitive ending. I committed to this "event" and it really didnt give us much finality.
As the solicit says, Carnage wins. There's some solid, gory symbiote action and it's quite well-drawn. I have no problem with a downer ending or with a story where the heroes do everything wrong -- and both of those apply here. But this issue races from fighting to failing to explaining the grim new status quo, and there's nothing along the way that feels like a satisfying conclusion. Perhaps if Carnage's parting words were deeper and darker than saying (essentially), "I win, you lose, nyah-nyah-nyah."
This was a bad ending. I don't mind endings where the heroes lose, but to have Iron Man come out of nowhere and fuck all this up is so annoying to me. I don't think this was worth eight whole parts. This felt like a waste of time.
Great art for the symbiotes, shitty story, PKJ didn't even try.
A forgettable event that had lackluster character development and inconsistent pacing.
