Grootfall seemingly cannot be stopped as ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy' #5 gets the gang back together for a truly desperate move that could either save everyone or leave more lost in their fallen friend's wake. All of the heavy emotions and character development that have become synonymous with the Guardians is on full display in a darkly rough and gorgeous series. Read Full Review
This new era of the Guardians still continues to be absolutely outstanding. Read Full Review
Guardians of the Galaxy #5 is a comic about nothing. The plot could be summarized as the Guardians flying to crash into Grootfall while an irrelevant space battle happens in the background. Nothing of substance happens, so give Kev Walker credit for trying to make nothing look interesting, but this truly is a comic about nothing. Read Full Review
This series continues to be a slower burn, but everything reaches a head in a great way here. Some great character moments, as they seemingly face inevitability itself. I like some of the more subtle nods to the philosophical ramifications of that but unfortunately they aren't given a ton of space.
The characters mostly all regroup for the first time in this run, with rocket rejoining, and as is usually the case everyone its fighting on how to handle this.
Kevin walker has done a great job on art, and they are doing that flashback thing except they arent waiting as long as zeb wells did, so next issue we get some answers. I'll be there.
I'll start this off by saying I really enjoyed this issue. However, I'm a bit disappointed that we didn't really learn all that much more about Grootfall here. I know that solicitations and such can have a tendency to somewhat falsely advertise, but it straight-up said at the end of the previous issue that the mystery behind Grootfall would be revealed here. Maybe I missed it, but I don't remember that being touched on here. Either way, this was still a pretty good issue that sets us up for what will, hopefully, be the explanation of what happened with Groot and the rest of the team before the events of this series began. This series has been super interesting thus far and I think it's about time we started to get some answers.

Bendis no longer has the worst Guardians run. Collin Kelly takes that title now. Which is sad, because I love the Guardians and didn't hate Bendis on it, he just didn't really get what the team or characters were about. Collin Kelly seems to actively hate the characters and the team. Let us hope his run is short and we can retcon this crap asap.
Kev Walker is alright on art. It's what I expect from him. Neutral. Brings it up to a 4
