Comic Crusaders - Al Mega
Sep 27, 2026Infernal Hulk vs. Wolverine #1 knows why we showed up and gives us the fight, but the reason I dug it is everything wrapped around that fight. There is mutant horror here, some genuinely grotesque imagery, a Wolverine who feels like Wolverine, and an Infernal Hulk that looks like a problem the entire Marvel Universe should be worried about. Johnson is clearly moving pieces toward Hulk War, but this one-shot has enough blood in its veins to stand on its own. Logan walks into hell because somebody has to, the Hulk waiting for him is no longer playing by Banner’s rules, and by the end you can see the bigger war coming over the horizon. Yeah. Plot
This comic is split into two parallel storylines:
The first introduces the "Invader's Y All"—aliens named Zeek, Ryxxa, Brandy, and Rambo (names chosen to mimic the sounds of their home planet). They are living incognito on Earth; despite their non-human appearance, they are on a mission. However, the High Council that dispatched them warned of a mysterious new organism that could jeopardize their objective.
The Invader's Y All are amphibious beings—resembling Swamp Thing, yet incredibly friendly and upbeat.
Hot on their trail are two government agents—reminiscent of Mulder and Scully from *The X-Files*—named Olmos and Fletcher; they possess highly advanced technology.

This is probably the best Hulk vs. Wolverine story ever made? These guys really kick each others asses, two indestructible characters, Nic Kleins artwork is worth the price of admission. Gory, action packed! Worth every penny! And it's all building up to the end of this series! Can't wait to see Hulk reunite with Bruce Banner...that is, if that's what's going to happen! Who knows at this point?

This Infernal Hulk storyline has been an interesting read overall. Mixing Hulk with Lovecraft type story is a change not many thought could work. For me, it’s something interesting and new for the big Green Guy. PKJ does his best work when hes having fun with Hulk and this issue is just that. Wolverine dropped in to investigate the missing mutants results in a bloody gore filled battle that I loved. More like this Marvel! the ending was a little weak but will I be reading the rest of these "infernal Hulk vs " books... if they are anything like this issue- Yes.

Definitely a really great read! I haven't been reading infernal hulk but I'm going to after this. Phillip Kennedy Johnson is a fantastic writer so I'm not surprised that this left me wanting to catch up and follow the rest of this setup to the hulk war. I love and am so curious what's happened to jubilee. A long time ago there was mention of her having more power than she could imagine. I wonder if that's what we're in store for. The work with logan and his fatherly love for jubilee was written perfectly in this issue too which I thought was great. Time for me to go back and catch up on infernal hulk

It’s the kind of series where you just can’t wait for it to end. Nothing happens, and it’s all just PKJ’s fantasy of wanting to do something different.
