This is one of the strongest issues of Jean Grey's solo series, thanks in no small part to the art of Victor Ibanez. Read Full Review
This is a sandbox with so much to play with inside, the opportunity isn't squandered by writer or artist. Jean Grey was one of the strongest X-Men titles before Marvel Legacy, there's no reason to believe it won't continue shining as bright. The approaching Phoenix spells even more thrills on the way. It's a fun story, it's got great artwork, and in the grand scheme of the story through the series, it is a great and logical next step. It takes into account some old, forgotten plot threads, which is nice to see for existing readers. Unfortunately, I think it would overall be a little confusing to anyone coming into this fresh. Issue #8 has many interesting qualities but strikes some low points by omitting key events in Emmas backstory in lieu of the paramount objective to intertwine Jeans personal journey and the central Phoenix plot. Read Full Review
Ghost Jean steers Teen Jean through an Emma Frost dreamscape to extract a remarkable prize. Somehow Dennis Hopeless's try-hard humor worked for me, mostly, so I found the journey more than satisfying. Victor Ibáñez's art gets the story told and triggers no disappointments, but it's also not adding much in the way of memorable visuals. The ending certainly introduces some tension and ratchets up my anticipation for the next issue.
All over the place nostalgic fun, with an interesting ending.
This entire issue felt pointless. It's an issue that if you skipped you probably wouldn't miss a single beat as nothing of true importance happens until the last frame which will be continued in the next issue. The artwork felt tired and incomplete and lacks the panache that previous issues had. By far the worst issue of this run.
